Winter Bible Study Re-Cap
What a wonderful time of Bible
study we had this past weekend! Dr.
Cecil Taylor, who grew up here in
Winnfield, was back to share with us,
and he certainly seemed like he had never left.
His study centered on Luke’s account of
the last days of Christ leading up to the cruci-
fixion. Dr. Taylor presented so much new infor-
mation – much of it that I had never heard be-
fore. One of the most compelling (to me) was
when he listed all the Roman (civil) and Jewish
(religious) laws that were broken during the
two trials that Jesus endured.
We still have copies of Dr. Taylor’s study
notes in the office. If you didn’t get a chance to
attend the study and are interested in getting a
copy, just let us know. If you’d like to send Dr.
Taylor a note of thanks, his address is:

Rev. Jayne Trammell-Kelly
Most of you know Rev. Trammell-Kelly.
She is the Pastor of First United Methodist
Church here in Winnfield. You probably also
know that she has been fighting a long-term
and courageous battle with cancer. She is cur-
rently hospitalized and cannot receive visitors.
However, I received permission to print
the address where she is receiving care, in case
you might want to send her a note of support
and encouragement. That address is:

Church-wide Valentine’s Banquet
Join us “Under the Big Top” for a three
ring circus on Wednesday, February 13 at
6:00 p.m. This year’s entertainment is go-
ing to be awesome, so don’t miss it! One of
the highlights of the evening will be a bak-
ing contest to see whose dessert wins the
Blue Ribbon! If you would like to participate, prepare
your favorite dessert and bring it to the church by 4:30
p.m. on the day of the banquet. A panel of judges will
taste the desserts and decide on the winners. Don’t for-
get to sign up in the church office if you plan to attend.
The Louisiana Teen Challenge groups from Winn
Parish will be leading worship on Sunday, February 17
at 11:00 a.m. As in the past, these groups will be lead-
ing us in music and in worship, so make plans to join
us.

What an excellent Winter Bible Study
Dr. Cecil Taylor presented! It proved to be
a true learning opportunity about the last
days on earth of our Savior. It made this
writer love and appreciate the character and
faithfulness of Christ.
Christian Life College resumes Sunday afternoon at
4:30. We are now half-way through the various studies.
Be faithful to the end. Remember, CLC will continue
with more classes at the conclusion of this semester.
Because of Winter Bible Study, this Sunday will be
our first small group Bible Study in February for adult
classes. This lesson will conclude the study of Amos.
The question this lesson will answer is, “where can I
turn for confidence about the future?”
Be there.
Opportunities and Hope abounding,
Theresa

The divinely-inspired words of Psalm 150
command believers to “Praise Him with
tambourine and dance; praise Him with
strings and pipe! Praise Him with sounding
cymbals; praise Him with loud clashing
cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD!”
The youth are going to the Rock and Worship Roadshow
concert series in Baton Rouge on Sunday, February 17, and
I have a feeling we’ll be following through on the psalm-
ists’ exhortations with full effect as we worship our King
Jesus Christ with the likes of Family Force 5, Mercy Me,
Jeremy Camp, Kutless, and a handful of other Christian
musical acts.
We will leave after the morning service on Sunday, Febru-
ary 17, and we will hopefully arrive in Baton Rouge around
5 o’clock that afternoon. The show begins at 7p.m. Since
the youth will be out of school that following week
(Monday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 22), we will spend
the night in Baton Rouge on the night of the concert, and
we will leave early Monday morning to return to
Winnfield. Tickets cost $10 at the door, and the hotel room
will cost around $20 per person; also, students will need to
bring money for food.
We have 21 students signed up to go. I have enough chap-
erones lined up for the guys, but I need a couple more fe-
male chaperones. If anyone would like to volunteer, please
contact me at the church to let me know.
Thanks!
Colin
