Thank you to everyone that made our

Mega Sports Camp a huge success! Each

night we had about 75 students and 60 volun-

teers. $607.55 was collected in our offering,

and will be donated to the Restoring God’s

House Fund. We appreciate all of the hard

work that made this new adventure a big hit!

Dear Church Family,

We would like to express our thanks to

all of you for your loving support dur-

ing these last few months. All the

prayers, visits, cards, phone calls, food, floral tributes and memo-

rial gifts have touched our hearts. A special thank you to the

Pairs and Spares and Seekers Sunday School Classes for their

acts of kindness. Please continue to pray for our family.

Restoring God's House Financial Update

We continue to enjoy our newly restored sanctuary with its new

air conditioning, super new lighting, fantastic new sound and vid-

eo presentations and other upgrades as we worship our Lord each Sun-

day. Our receipts for Restoring God's House funding are picking up too.

Our total receipts so far total $115,760 which is 39% of our Challenge

Goal of $300,000. We are trying to reach this goal by May of 2015 at

which time permanent financing of the project will be setup. Please con-

tinue to pray about what God would have you give toward this restoration

project. We have several "fun"draising events planned for the fall that

we hope you will participate in too. You will hear more about them later.

GOD’S NOT DEAD

On Saturday, August 9, the youth will gather on the Third Floor

to watch God’s Not Dead, an uplifting movie about a young col-

lege freshman who is challenged by his atheist philosophy pro-

fessor to prove that God exists. The movie stars Kevin Sorbo,

Shane Harper, David A.R. White, and Willie & Korie Robertson.

This is an important movie for students of all ages to watch, es-

pecially those who are preparing for college in the fall.

Meet up on the Third Floor at 5:30pm on Saturday, August 9.

Pizza and snacks will be provided free of charge.

CANNED FOOD DRIVE:

The youth are collecting canned food for The Hub: Urban Minis-

tries, a Christian facility that ministers to the impoverished of

Shreveport’s inner city. Specifically, we are collecting products

like Ravioli, Spam, Vienna sausages, soup, tuna fish, or any other

canned food that can function as the main course of a meal.

Our youth took a mission trip to The Hub last Thursday to help

serve food, fold clothes, and just talk to the homeless and ex-

tremely low income people and families that came into the facili-

ty. While we were there, the facility ran out of main course food

to serve.

Our youth group felt led to get more involved, and thus the idea

for a canned food drive was born.

The Hub desires to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the lives of

the homeless, and they strive to meet the very real physical needs

of those whom God has given us to love; while addressing those

needs, The Hub proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ to all

who enter.

Please bring all canned food donations to the church office.

Y’all are the best!

Colin

A little over a year ago, I took on some additional responsibilities at FBC that

most may not even notice, but I enjoy doing very much. We were in need of a

website update and someone to maintain our web content. I volunteered to take

on the extra responsibility to make use of my previous work experience in web-

site management and social media marketing. Each week Jill and I update the

website and social media with new information and content. Often we are left to

wonder if anyone is utilizing these ministry tools. So this week I researched

some of our content and was pleasantly surprised.

FBC currently utilizes our church website, Facebook, Twitter, and Vimeo to

share our ministry efforts via the world wide web with those both in our commu-

nity and throughout the world . You can utilize our church website

(www.fbcwinn.com) and social media sites to find out about current events at

the church, read The Evangel, register for camps and trips (firstKIDS), and even

pay your tithes or make a donation. We have over 517 likes on Facebook and

have an average reach of over 200 people reading each post on our social media.

The Vimeo website hosts our weekly service videos and allows you to download

any service found in our online archive to your computer, tablet or smart phone

to be viewed. So far this year we have had over 2000 visits to our Vimeo site

with over 500 services being watched in over 12 countries. Services have been

viewed in the countries of Russia, China and Thailand just to name a few. Some-

times I think we become so accustomed to the weekly television broadcast and

the cameras and forget that we are part of a service that doesn't quit touching

peoples lives when the organ plays the last note at the end of the Sunday service.

Through our media ministry our church is reaching people in the world with the

message of Christ that we may never meet or get to know.

During the renovation process, the guys that work in our media/sound booth

spent many late hours working to make sure everything was ready to continue

the media ministry of FBC. I hope you will take some time to thank all the guys

that work in the sound and media booth to make such a wonderful ministry pos-

sible and say a prayer for those that are watching our services on television and

the Internet.
