Well it took long enough, but we are finally starting to get some summer like weather.

With that thought in mind, those of you who have air conditioners and would like to have them in-

stalled, please write a work order and we will schedule the installation.

Installed in every apartment are medical pull cords; there are usually two stations, one in the bed-

room and one in the bathroom.

We have some new guidelines as to the length of these cords; they should extend down to the

baseboard. I have noted that frequently residents may tie these cords up or place furniture in

front of them. We can work with you to make the cords longer and arrange for some type for fair-

lead, but in accordance with HUD guidelines these cords must be accessible.

When I think of spring weather, I think of spring cleaning. No, really I do think about cleaning, right

after golf. But, now is a good time to clean out the refrigerator. It is good to take everything out

and clean off the shelves and bins. A solution of water and baking soda is good to clean the inside

of the refrigerator. Also, it is good to clean the gasket on both the refrigerator and freezer. For this

a solution of vinegar and water works really well.

Now let’s get outside and enjoy the nice weather.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

A FREE OPPORTUNITY

For the Month of JUNE

Help Yourself; your friends; your family; your neighbors communicate bet-ter with each other…

~SIGN LANGUAGE PRACTICE CIRCLE~

Woodside Village II Community Room

3:15 - 4:30pm

(No experience necessary)

Try your hands at SIGN LANGUAGE

WHY?

It’s an easy solution for hearing & non-hearing people alike:

It eases frustrations from not being able to hear a particular word(s)

Helps others (who sign) know what you’re saying!

Solves communications when noise levels are too loud or soft

Brings ease to those with voice problems & limited speaking ability

It’s a practical way to bridge communication gaps between foreign speaking and English speaking Islanders.

Fabulous when Privacy is needed!

Come join a sign language experiment to see if residents of IEH can help each other Communicate Better.

For more Information: Call Lynn 508 693-3423

Did you know there was a Deaf community on MV from 1694 to the mid 1900’s and no one had a problem understand-ing one another since everyone knew sign language?*

*The book “Everyone Here Spoke Sign Language” by Nora Groce – explains this Island legacy— (It’s avail-

able at all Vineyard Libraries)

If you’d like to stay for dinner after the circle call: Kevin McFarland 508 693-5880 Ext. 15

Welcome to almost summertime Residents! It is finally time to open the windows and enjoy the spectacular beauty of nature in full bloom. A few items we would like to bring to your attention:

Scooters: IEH has adopted a new scooter policy that will go into effect on July 1, 2018. This policy limits the indoor usage of mobile scooters and designates stor-age areas. If you use a mobile scooter now or may do so in the future, please be-come familiar with our new policy. You may obtain a copy of the new policy at the Property Management Office.

Landlines: Telephone landlines are required for all residences at IEH. Currently the only carrier offering a hard-wire line is Verizon. Landlines are required for our emergency system and for your safety. We will be sending out a letter with more information about the landline requirement in the next few weeks.

Hearing Training: We recently attended a training offered by the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. We learned about many services and special equipment that can be available for those experiencing hearing loss. Please see the Property Management Office if you are interested in learning more about the many services offered.

Thank-you to the Resident volunteers who offered to help paint and beautify our lawn chairs for the coming season! We appreciate your help ~ Glenda Cataloni, Dee Souza and Bob Martin!
