WOMEN’S BASKETBALL The Vikings will continue their four-game home-stand this week, hosting Green Bay on Thursday (Jan. 17) and Milwaukee on Saturday (Jan. 19). Thursday’s contest against the league-leading Phoenix will tip at 7:00 p.m., while Saturday’s game against the Panthers is set for a 2:00 p.m. start. Entering the week, CSU stands at 10-5 overall and 2-0 in Horizon League play after defeating UIC and Detroit last week. Cleveland State earned a 73-69 over-time victory at UIC to begin league play last Wednes-day (Jan. 9), and came home to top Detroit, 77-66 on Saturday (Jan. 12). Shalonda Winton led the Vikings combining for 57 points and 25 rebounds in both games, including a career-high 32 points against the Titans. Winton record-ed her 10th and 11th double-doubles of the season last week, and currently ranks fifth all-time at CSU with 1,520 points and third with 929 career rebounds.

WOMEN’S TENNIS The Vikings will begin their spring season this week, traveling to Harvard on Sunday (Jan. 20) and Boston University on Monday (Jan. 21). Last week CSU was selected to finish second in the 2013 Horizon League Preseason Poll, collecting 38 points. The Vikings advanced to the championship match of the Horizon League Tournament for just the second time in program history last year, falling to 16-time league champion UIC. CSU returns six letterwinners from that squad, including the senior trio of Nicole Janek, Maria Lazaris and Mengdi Liu. In the fall, CSU was led by junior Kara Sher-wood and freshman Ellen Folkers, who each picked up singles titles at the Bowling Green Invite. Sherwood, along with Janek and Alex Power all reached the 20-win mark last year – led by Power, whose 25 wins ranks second on the all-time CSU single season wins list.

MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING CSU will end its 2012-13 home competition with two meets this weekend at the Robert F. Busbey Na-tatorium, hosting Notre Dame at 4:00 p.m on Friday before hosting Wright State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Vikings are coming off a split at home against Xavier and Oakland. CSU took down Xavier 184-67, while falling to Oakland in a close battle 130-111. Freshman Danny Roberts led the way with two wins, sweeping both the 1-meter dive (295.58), and 3-meter dive (328.95). Roberts won the 3-meter by an impressive 31 points.

MEN’S TENNIS CSU will begin its spring season this week, traveling to Xavier on Friday (Jan. 18) and Penn State on Sunday (Jan. 20). Last week the Vikings were tabbed to finish second in the 2013 Horizon League Pre-season Poll, collecting 30 points and one first-place vote. Cleveland State advanced to the championship match of the Ho-rizon League Tournament for the fifth straight time last season, after defeating Detroit in the opening round and upsetting top-seeded Wright State in the semifinals. The Vikings return six letterwinners from that squad, including junior Matt Ford and sophomore Ali Shabib who led CSU throughout the fall schedule. Ford ended the fall with an 8-4 record, including a perfect 6-0 mark to start the season. The doubles team of Shabib and Niklas Jons-son also had an excellent fall campaign, going 11-2 and picking up two tournament titles.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING Cleveland State will end its home schedule this weekend when the Vikings host both Wright State and Youngstown State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Busbey Natatorium. CSU is coming off a split last weekend, when the Vikings took down Xavier, 180-57, before then falling in a close contest to Oakland, 129-112. Joann Olsson brought home wins in the 200 IM (207.84) and 200 butterfly (2:07.51), while Alice Som-merville won both the 50-yard freestyle (23.74) and the 200 breaststroke (2:23.57).

WRESTLING CSU opens its home dual meet schedule when the Vikings host Lock Haven on Friday (Jan. 18) at 6:00 p.m. and Chattanooga at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday (Jan. 20). The Vikings split two dual meets in Virginia last weekend, falling to Brown (29-12) and winning at George Mason (20-15). Ben Willeford (125 pounds), Corey Carlo (165), Xavier Dye (174) and Riley Shaw (HWT) all picked up two wins for the Vikings. Willeford leads the team with 16 wins.
