iPad Initial Setup: Setup sequence may not follow these directions exactly, depending on the model of iPad. You may need to skip around a bit.

Select:● English > United States

● If you see a Quick Start option: Set Up Manually (bottom of screen)

● DVUSDmobile as your wifi network

● If you see a Data & Privacy screen: Continue

● Next (top right corner)

Log into your iPad with your school username and passwordThose are the credentials you use to log into school computers. [first name initial, middle initial, first 3 letters of your last name, last 3 numbers of your student ID number.]

● Set Up Touch ID Later > Don’t Use (Touch ID doesn’t work on district iPads.)

● Create a Passcode Choose something you will remember! Write it down or email it to yourself.

● Enable Location Services

● Continue > Continue > Get Started > Dismiss (Edit Home Screen Pop-up)

DVUSD iPads do not contain the App Store.Only apps found on the DVUSD App Catalog can be installed on a school iPad.

Students new to the district may not be able to log into district technology until after one day of attendance.

You might want to put a selfie as your lock screen.

That way if your iPad is lost and someone finds it, he or she will be able to tell whose it is.

iPad Email Setup:• Open Settings app on iPad

• Select: Accounts & Password OR Mail > Add Account > GoogleIf Google email won’t open…don’t worry! Your iPad is probably not yet showing on the district network. Wait a few hours.

• Follow instructions. Be sure to enter your • SCHOOL email address (username@learner.dvusd.org) and • SCHOOL password (your school ID number)

School email is part of your district Google account.

• Turn on Notes and tap Save.

Students new to the district will not be able to log into district technology until after one day of attendance.

School Apple ID Setup: (Skip to item 3 if you’re a returning student.)

1. Open your learner.dvusd.org email account

2. Open your email from Apple Manager

a. You should see your new Apple ID username and temporary password.

If there is no email, please go to library website for email request link.

3. Open Settings > iTunes and App Store > Sign In

a. New OC students: Copy and paste the username and temporary

password from your Apple Manager email into sign in fields. You’ll be

asked to create a new password

b. Returning OC students: Sign into your district Apple ID.

(username@appleid.dvusd.org) If you’ve forgotten your password, go

to library website for password reset link.

If Sign In doesn’t work…don’t worry! Your iPad is probably not yet showing on the district network. Wait a few hours.

You will find links that allow you to request a new Apple ID setup email or reset your Apple ID password.

Expectations:

• Bring your iPad charged every day. When removing the charger from your iPad, be gentle. The cord & brick cost $ to replace!

• Keep your iPad in the school issued case at all times! If you take it out, insurance is void.

• SAVE YOUR FILES! Google Drive, iCloud, Adobe account, Canvas, email...make sure you save every file you value!

◆ Many apps won’t work well without the latest iPad update installed.

➔ If iPad freezes or you have other operating problems, do a hard reboot:◆ Hold down the wake/sleep button and the

iPad broken or cracked screen?

• Report it to the bookstore or library. • You will turn in your iPad to be repaired

and will be required to pay for the repair or make payments toward repair cost.

• You will be issued another iPad.

Lost or stolen iPad? • Fill out an incident report immediately in

conduct.

• Your iPad’s location may be traced. Ms. Salameh can help you with this.

• If you don’t find the iPad, you will need to make arrangements to pay the replacement charge to the bookstore. Another iPad will be issued.

• If you purchased the Optional Protection Plan, you will pay the deductible and be issued a new iPad.

Forgot a password?

• Apple ID password:- Apple ID password reset link is on library website.

• gmail (learner.dvusd.org) password:- This is your school ID number

• passcode (what you use to open iPad):

- Your iPad will have to be restored to its original settings.

- Anything on it you have not saved (to iCloud, Google, app account, etc) will be lost. This is sad! Try to keep saving all your hard work!

Two more things you need to know:

• If you look at inappropriate material (even at home) it will “ping” the system. Don’t do it!

• Your iPad is worthless outside of the district. If it is stolen, no one can log in other than a DVUSD student or teacher. That means we will be able to track any stolen property and anyone who tries to sell the iPad will not be able to do so.
