Each year, hundreds of genetic studies are conducted by academic researchers, examining plant species, population types, environmental conditions and locations. This data is immensely valuable to any research effort, public or private. Yet it is not accessible: datasets are published in scientific journals as PDF files, and the underlying data is forgotten in the researcher's spreadsheet files 1 . Comparison of studies is very challenging, as data is not standardized across different research groups. Each researcher is able to upload her/his data and connect it to existing global knowledge, by linking traits to ontology, markers to genetic/physical maps and germplasm to pedigree and their sources. Unity allows you to see the big picture, by evaluating marker effects on phenotypes not only in your study, but in hundreds of genomic (QTL and GWAS) studies from different sources that examine data (markers, phenotypes, species) that are relevant to you.
