Welcome Christine!Christine Machado (A.K.A. Tina)

Tina has a BA in Studio Art from Santa Clara University with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. For the past seven years she has worked at a preschool, and taught art classes for children ages 2-12 for

the City of Turlock Recreation Department, Turlock City Arts Commission, The City of Atwater, the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, First 5 & Head Start. During our Fall & Winter session, Tina will be teaching Ready, Set, Grow and Pre-School Mania classes.

Tina is a play advocate dedicated to exposing children and adults to the wonderful world of open-ended experiences, where the process rather than the product is key! The City of Turlock is glad to have Tina as part of their team, learning through art!

Play, Learn, Grow!Give your child the opportunity to explore, create and discover in a child-centered learning environment. This class will encourage physical, social, emotional and cognitive development through play-based exploration and experimentation. Learning through play encourages children to become independent, make their own choices, develop positive self-esteem, and learn to cooperate with others. Activities will include music, art, finger plays, circle time, math, science, literacy, games and movement activities. The environment is rich in materials young children need for open-ended process oriented learning. Come grow with us!

Children must be at least four years old at the beginning of the session and completely potty trained. This is a hands-on learning environment; every day children are involved in active and ‘messy’ play. For this reason we ask that children come to class in comfortable play-ready clothing and shoes. Must register 1 week prior to each session to avoid classes being cancelled.
