What is a TUA?

Technology Use Agreement

The TUA is an agreement that students

and teachers sign

to make sure they use the

school technology tools responsibly for learning activities.

street? • Take it apart if you thought it

was broken or you wanted to keep something?

Before you can borrow school technology…you must sign that you understand

and will follow rules about: • Getting permission first • Using it safely• Using it the right way• Give it back so it will work for

the next person• Telling an adult if something

is wrong

Signing your TUA

• If you sign the TUA, you are agreeing to use the school technology tools correctly and following all rules. You will still need to get the TUA signed by your parent/guardian and return it to school.

If you do not sign the TUA, or if your

parent/guardian does not sign the TUA, you will not be allowed to use the school technology tools.

Remember! It’s not a secret.Your teacher, librarian, principal, and their bosses can see what you do on the technology tools you are using.

TECHNOLOGY TOOLS ARE IN THE CLASSROOM TO HELP YOU LEARN.IF YOU AREN’T SURE IF SOMETHING IS OK, YOU SHOULD

ASK FIRST.

BE CAREFUL!You are expected to treat all technology very, very carefully. If it isn’t working, be sure to tell your teacher.

WRITING MESSAGESYour teacher may let you to send a message to her/him or a friend in the classroom using a computer or iPod. You should always write messages that are polite and use language that is appropriate. Never send a message to someone on the Internet unless your parent or teacher knows about it and gives you permission.

TELLING OTHERS ABOUT YOUNever share information about yourself on the Internet without adult permission. This includes your picture, your phone number, your school, your address, and your birthday.

Icky!If you ever see anything on the Internet that makes you uncomfortable or feel unsafe, push the back button and be sure to tell an adult right way.

CYBERBULLYINGBullying is hurting or scaring other people. Cyberbullying is when you use technology to hurt or scare other people. Cyberbullying is not OK. Never send a message or picture to scare or hurt someone. You can get into serious trouble for using technology to bully. If you ever see a message or picture that looks or feels like bullying, tell an adult right away.

When you sign your TUA, you are agreeing that if you break any of these rules you will have a consequence and might not be able to use school technology anymore.
