Scenario "Do you know the place where you live"

• 2 Classes of AE Vidigueira: 2nd F, 3rd B and 3rd F;

• 39 pupils;

What we did(Teachers meetings)

- An article about the Future Classroom Scenarios was published on the school’s website (http://www.aevid.pt/index.php?limitstart=12);

- A Powerpoint presentation about the workshop was presented to colleagues of the department of the 1st cycle (Primary School). We shared ideas and reflected about the Toolkit and the Future Classroom Maturity Modelling;

- A meeting was held with the headmaster to explain the work of the session held in Brussels and the steps to follow. There was a lot of receptivity and support;

- a meeting with all the teachers of the three schools involved in the Portuguese Project "Promotion of change in learning: school communities Gulbenkian XXI " (Vidigueira, Vendas Novas and Ponte de Sor) and the teachers of the University of Évora, to report the Brussels experience.

What we did (Teachers meetings)

- In Vidigueira working meetings were held with a team of teachers: two classroom teachers and two support teachers). We reflected about the FCL ToolKit and the scenario created in Brussels "Do you know the place where you live". We defined strategies and activities.

• Identification of points of interest in the town of Vidigueira, with the support of teachers and family;

• Study tours with research work: interviews, photos and videos.

• The pupils worked in the classroom, in groups of 3 or 4, using different tools: books, magazines, tablets, internet, ... to learn more about the points of interest. They have also identified their location using Google Maps.

• Class about local birds endangered;

• Monitoring of small birds nests.

• On a mouse of the region: leirão.

• Pupils of the 3rd F experienced an application to study this mouse, created by the students of Education and Multimedia Communication course at the Polytechnic Institute of Beja.

• Construction of a blog to publish written work .

Next Steps• Recording videos with traditional songs and drama about a local legend : Legend of Our Lady of the Relics .

• Creating audio-guides with geolocation : using echoes (audio files: narration performed by students with the information collected about the places ) and a walk through the chosen sites.Tools: Audacity program and Woices.
