At Noon, the Chief Officer Mr Cowap reported have found two stowaways down the Fore Peak, and on being called aft, before the Master, were asked what business and when they came on board the Ship, they said they came on board during the previous night, said that they had left the Russian Barque Asia at Delagoa Bay and wanted to go to Australia gave their names Axel Mattita aged 19 and Karl Karlason aged 21 both of Finland.

At 8 a.m. Emil Hagman (Sailor) asked permission to go ashore, said that he was to attend at the Law Court at 10 a.m. and permission was granted, at 10.40 a.m. the said Emil Hagman reported to the Master that he was discharge free from the Court and was ordered by the Master to return at once on board the Ship, but had not return to the Ship till 4 p.m. worst for drink.

At 6. 45 a.m. Emil Hagman and Humphrey Roberts both (Sailors) being absent from the ship without leave and at 8 a.m. returned on board the Ship, 8.45 a.m. both Hagman and Roberts went ashore without leave and on being ordered by the Master to return on board the Ship said they were going ashore.

Emil Hagman and Humphrey Roberts (both Sailors) being arrested on 1st inst for being absent from the Ship without leave appeared at the Law Court and both were sentence imprisonment for five week.

The patient William Pedvin, feel stronger release of pain, temperature 98.04, at 4 p.m. got up and washed himself, appetite good gave him purging pill, Port Wine and soothing mixture.

This day the patient William Pedvin felt very weak, complaining of Heart pain, temperature 98.01, gave him Brandy and Port Wine, during afternoon his mind wandering very talkative, and strictly attended to.

Forenoon, William Pedvin A.B. looked to be about the same, but very weak, temperature 98.02, gave him glass of Port Wine, Tea and arrowroot as usual, afternoon his mind wandering and he felt asleep, and being carefully watched, at 6 p.m. turned for the worst and at 6.40 p.m. he passed away died in peace and after administering on the body, cleared the Room and locked the door up for the night.

At 5.30 a.m. Crew making preparation for burying the deceased William Pedvin getting the body sewed in new canvas and heavy weight attached, at 8 a.m. stoped way on the Ship and all hands present, the Chief Officer reading the burial service the body was hoisted over the rail and lowered down to the water-edge, sliding off the platform and sank into the deep.
