To celebrate aDALLAS, Oct. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Committed to making the world a better place one trip at a time, Travelocity® selected Lisa Cox, a local resident of Spartanburg, SC, as the third and final award recipient for this year's Travel for Good program. Lisa will receive an all-expense-paid voluntourism trip to participate in the World Parkinson Congress in Portland, Oregon. In addition, Travelocity will make a $10,000 donation directly to the World Parkinson Coalition."Since first being diagnosed six years ago, I have felt that it is an opportunity, as well as my responsibility to educate others on the effects of Parkinson's Disease," said Cox. "I am eager to participate in the World Parkinson Congress and help bring awareness to the need for finding a cure for this debilitating disease."
Cox lives in South Carolina, and was chosen from among thousands of potential voluntourists who shared how they would use a Travel For Good award."Everyone at Travelocity was touched by Lisa's personal story and heartfelt desire to help people living with Parkinson's," said Ashley Parker, Senior Brand Manager and head of the Travel For Good program.
