1898. Adolf Messer founds the Frankfurt Acetylen-Gas-Gesellschaft Messer & Cie.Acetylene generators are produced in a small workshop in Höchst.

1908. Oxyfuel welding and cutting torches, Acetylene generators and pressure regulators(to name just some) are marketed under the brand name “Original Messer“.

1924. The first electric welding tests in the world take place.

1965. Under Dr. Hans Messer, the company Adolf Messer GmbH merges with partsof Knapsack-Griesheim AG (part of Hoechst) to form Messer Griesheim GmbH.

1989. 160 patent and invention registrations show the innovative strength of theorganisation.The 2 billion DM turnover mark is passed.

2004/2005. The Messer family takes over all parts of the company again, as well asthe Messer Eutectic Castolin Group with the Welding and Cutting division.

Our oxyfuel and plasma technology is repre-sented in (every) shipyard on this planet. Equallyin the steel industry, mining, the manufactureof railway and building machines – in facteverywhere where the people seem smallin comparison to the objects and the platethicknesses seem very large. toughest operating environments. Workingwidths of up to 7.800 mm and positioningspeeds of up to 35 m/min reduce the unpro-ductive time to a minimum. This means youare well ahead of your competitors.

Bevel cutting – the royal class in buildingships and containers. Bevel cutting requiresan exact knowledge of the machine and thecutting processes. Corners, lead-ins and run-outs have to be cut with special cycles if the

required quality is to be achieved. Bevel cuttingalso places high demands on the programmingof the cutting plan. Special auxiliary functionsare needed to set the units up for bevel cutting.For example, with plasma bevel cutting, cutsmust be repeated if the preparation consists ofmultiple bevels. It may be necessary to offsetthe cutting contour to a parallel one or the unitmay have to be offset laterally. Dependingupon the cutting process, special start of cutgeometries may be required. Cutting and Marking Tools –the complete range. Depending upon theapplication, we offer the most divergentequipment: For simple flame planing cuts theswivelling oxyfuel triple torch head N or theplasma cutting unit PKS. Infinitely rotating tripletorch systems for bevel cuts X, Y und K operatecompletely automatically. Examples are theDAFL unit and the Skew Rotator, the World’smost successful plasma bevel cutting head.Unlimited rotation of the C axis and bevel cutsup to 45° can be made with it.

LaserMat® – the technology leader for largeplates. Our LaserMat®, with working widthsof over 4.1 m and table lengths up to 40 m, ispredestined for large format plates. This CNCcontrolled laser processing system offers highcomponent accuracy thanks to linear guidesfor longitudinal and transverse motion. As theresonator rides on the machine in the X directionand has a 100 % beam path compensation inthe Y direction, the cutting quality remainsconsistently high over the entire working area.Its performance with highly dynamic positioningspeeds of 60 m/min for each axis, accelerationup to 0.4 g, 4 to 8 CNC axes with a resolutionof 0.001 mm and that over such enormousworking areas, is unique in this combination.

The Gantry Machines. Gantry systems areextremely modular guiding machines which canbe adopted to suit customer-specific require-ments. With them you can combine the mostdifferent cutting processes with each other orcompliment them with additional units for bevelcutting, marking, drilling etc. Our OmniMat® orMultiTherm can be specially equipped withoxyfuel for thick plates and with plasma cuttingheads for other material thicknesses.

Frequently changingtasks, material typesand thicknesses arecharacteristic of dailyproduction life in thecontract cutting shop.

MultiTherm. A compact cutting machine forthe plasma and oxyfuel processes is ourmulti-process system MultiTherm. With onecutting head this machine masters severalprocesses: precision plasma cutting, line andspot marking. A robust economical oxyfueltorch can also be integrated. The Flat bed machines

MetalMaster – the precision plasma cuttingsystem. The MetalMaster is a special highperformance machine for plasma. It is a com-pact unit for both precision and conventionalplasma cutting with an integrated fumeextraction table. The MetalMaster for plasmacutting and the FiberBlade for laser cutting areboth designed as flat bed cutting systemswhich are simply selected by track gauge andworking length.

FiberBlade – the Laser cutting system withfibre technology. The beam source of thelaser cutting machine Fiberblade is a highlyefficient and energy saving fibre laser. As itcontains no moving parts and the emitterdiodes have a very long lifetime, the main-tenance costs are very low. Because the beamis guided through a glass fibre, expensiveadjustment work is also no longer necessary.The machine thus meets all expectations forsimple operation, low costs and high reliability.
