Safe exchange zoneThe Town of Newburgh announces a safe exchange zone for in person transactions such as Craigslist and other similar services. It is common for a person making an online purchase on a site such as Craigslist to meet the seller in person with cash and this can be an uncomfortable, if not a dangerous situation. The Town of Newburgh is always looking out for the safety of its residents, and have come up with a plan for safe transactions. For your safety, here’s how it works:Park in the public Police Parking lot area and meet the buyer or seller of whatever you’re selling (or buying) in the lobby of our Police Department at 300 Gardnertown Road Newburgh, New York 12550.Supervisor Gil Piaquadio thanks Police Chief Bruce Campbell for his cooperation and Councilman Scott Manley who came up with the suggestion of a safe exchange zone.
