call an annum that sped by so quick.I'll be looking at another birthday inDecember. Aaargh, another year old-er!We recently held our major fundrais-

er, Porkapalooza. Thanks to the fantas-tic Newburgh BBQ Coalition. You allare the best! And we appreciate allwho joined us for lunch and to every-one who purchased pork products. Itwas a fun couple of days, seeing oldfriends and meeting new ones. Wearen't decided as yet about a 2019date.

I was thinking about the weatherwe've been having lately and every-body saying how cold it is and thatwe've gone from summer to winter,

with no fall in between. Having livedup north a number of years, I beg todiffer with you. We had snow in earlyOctober up where we used to live. Theweather we've experienced this Octo-ber is considered a warm spell up innorthern and central Indiana.Granted, the first part of October was

warmer than usual, but I'm cherishingthe crisp blue of our skies now and thecooler temperatures. (My comfortzone has shrunk the past few years. Ionly feel comfortable from 55-75 de-grees and the 55 includes a sweatshirtand socks.) We have a few leaves turn-ing colors. Others must have missedthe memo this year and went straightfrom summer green to drab brown.

Falling back in time as Daylight Savings Time endsRemember, our time changes Sunday, November 4 at 2 a.m. We'll get an extra

hour in bed on Sunday morning but the days will seem shorter and the nightslonger until we go back to Daylight Savings time next spring. If you subscribe tothe theory that it is legal to go to bed once it gets dark, you'll be catching up onall the sleep you lost to daylight this past summer.

Euchre tournamentheld at Senior Center

Thanks to all who participated inour inaugural Euchre Tournament atthe Senior Center. For those whoattended, please be sure you telleveryone what a fun afternoon itwas.We'd like even more players next

time. We'll try to schedule anotherone in late January.We play Euchre every Wednesday

at the Center, starting noon-ish. Allyou have to be is 55 or older, andhave a background in Euchre--even ifyou haven't played for years.

If you don't know how to play Eu-chre, stop by the Center some after-noon and we'll teach you the basics.Winners for our first ever Euchre
