Installation InstructionsThese instructions are for installing Sage Peachtree 2012 after downloading it.

• During installation, you’ll be asked for your serial number.You can find it in the email that was sent to you with thedownload link.

• If you are installing on a network, you will use this samedownloaded file (SagePeachtree2012.exe) to install on the serverand each workstation (just like you would have used one CD forall of the installations). There are several ways you can do this.You can download the file to each computer. You can burn thedownloaded file onto a CD or put it on a flash drive to take thefile to each computer. You can put the downloaded file out onthe network where it can be accessed from each computer, thencopy the downloaded file to each computer.

• Sage Peachtree First Accounting and Sage Peachtree ProAccounting should only be installed on a single computer.

Single computer (no network) installation is simple.

1. Double-click SagePeachtree2012.exe and click Install.SagePeachtree2012.exe is the file that was downloaded.By default, it is downloaded to your desktop.

2. Read and accept the license agreement.

3. You may be prompted to set your firewall so that SagePeachtree can be installed. If so, follow the directions onthe screen. If you receive any warnings from your firewallsoftware during the install, be sure to select Allow or Unblock for these programs.

4. Enter the serial number found in the email that was sent toyou with the download link.

5. On the Single Computer or Network window, select Yes thatthis is the only computer running Sage Peachtree.

6. Choose the program files location. This must be a localdrive (usually C or D). We recommend that you accept thedefault location.

7. Accept the recommended company data location or clickBrowse to select a different location.

8. Review the locations of your program and company data files.Make sure that these locations are correct. If you need to makea change, click Back. Click Install to install Sage Peachtree.

• Always install Sage Peachtree first on the computer that willstore your Sage Peachtree company data files, which are thefiles that record your Sage Peachtree transactions and records.This computer is the server.

• Install Sage Peachtree on each workstation after installing onthe server.

• When installing on the server, on the Summary page you’llsee the option to use the network installation manager. Ifyou choose this option, you should use the instructions inthe network tips to install on the workstations instead of theworkstation installation instructions in this document. Select toview the network tips at the end of the server installation.

8. Accept the recommended company data location or Browse to select a different location. This folder must be shared. When installing on your workstations, this is the company data location you will point to. (You’ll have the opportunity to share this folder later in the install process.)

9. Review the locations of your program and company data files. Make sure that these locations are correct. If you need to make a change, click Back. Click Install to install Sage Peachtree.

WORKSTATION INSTALLATION

10. Next, you need to share your company data folder (if it’s not already shared). Click Share the Folder to open Windows Explorer with the Peachtree folder highlighted. Right-click the Peachtree folder and select Properties.

On the Sharing tab, select Share this folder. Note the Share Name. You’ll point to this when installing on your workstations.

1. Double-click SagePeachtree2012.exe and click Install. SagePeachtree2012.exe is the file that was downloaded. You will use the same file to install on the server and each workstation.

2. On the Single Computer or Network window, select No, Peachtree company data will be shared on a network.

3. When asked about the company data files location, select No, a different computer on the network will store Peachtree company data.

4. When asked if you have already installed Sage Peachtree on the server, select Yes.

5. Choose the program files location. This must be a local drive (usually C or D).

6. When asked to choose the company data files location, select the location you shared when installing on the server.

7. Repeat these install steps on each workstation.
