LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Parishioners, Next week, beginning next Sunday, January 28, is Catholic School Week, in which St. Jerome celebrates our great school and its 56-year history of

quality and values education. The week opens with the 10:00 am Mass next Sunday celebrating our school with children participating actively. This year we have a piece of good news to announce; we now have set up the St. Jerome School Endowment Fund. Due to a generous gift of $25,000.00 several years ago for that purpose, and a challenge grant of $4000.00 last year plus a $75,000.00 gift received before Christmas. This $106,000.00 is permanently invested with the Educational Endowment Fund of the Archdiocese to give an annual return for our school. Donations are accepted at any time for this school endowment. If you wish to remember our school in memory of someone or have funds for a good charity, this is a very worthy cause. When drawing up your last will, perhaps you can benefit the school from your tax savings from appreciated, and taxable assets such as stocks or real estate. Our school can greatly benefit from your gifts in this way and you save the taxes. And of course, don’t forget us when you win the lottery, ha, ha! (I wish I had a dollar for every person that made this offer.) Remember our school with a gift that keeps on giving and pays forward what you or your children received there I urge you to check the bulletin for the schedule of all the events the school has planned for Catholic Schools Week and join in the celebration. Encourage friends and neighbors to participate also, particularly those considering Catholic education for their own children. When you visit our school today for the STUDENTS SHOWCASE and for a student led tour, please take a moment to express your appreciation to the teachers, staff, administrators, board members and volunteers for all they do. And congratulate the students on what they have accomplished. They are shining examples of how Catholic schools are making a difference. CARTA DE NUESTRO PÁRROCO Queridos Feligreses, La próxima semana, empezando el domingo, 28 de enero, es la semana de las escuelas católicas, en la que San Jerónimo celebra nuestra gran escuela y sus 56 años de historia, calidad valores y educación. La semana abre con la Misa de 10:00 am el próximo domingo celebrando nuestra escuela con los niños que participan activamente. Este año tenemos una buena noticia que anunciar; Ahora hemos establecido el fondo de dotación de la escuela de San Jerónimo. Debido a una generosa donación de $25.000,00 por varios años y una donación desafío de $4000,00 el año pasado más un regalo de $75.000,00 recibido antes de Navidad. Estos $106,000.00 se invierten permanentemente con el fondo educativo de la Fundación de la Arquidiócesis para dar un rendimiento anual de nuestra escuela. TIENEN QUE ESTAR CASADOS POR LA IGLESIA? El ser

padrino o madrina, no solo de Bautismo, sino de cualquier

Sacramento, representa a la misma Iglesia. No es solo porque

es alguien de la familia, conocido, o el que va a pagar la fiesta.

Los padrinos y madrinas representan en ese momento a

nuestra Iglesia. Y si la representan lo deben hacer de

manera completa. Tenemos muy seguido solicitudes para

bautizar pidiendo que alguna pareja que están casados solo

por la ley civil y no por la Iglesia, sean los padrinos. La

respuesta es NO pueden, porque entonces NO están

representando completamente a la Iglesia. No juzgamos

porque si o por que no se han casado por la Iglesia, eso es algo

personal, pero si están queriendo ser padrinos por la Iglesia

es porque van a dar ejemplo de vida a su ahijado(a) viviendo

su fe y recibiendo sus sacramentos. El ahijado o ahijada esta

“viendo” en sus padrinos que el Sacramento del Matrimonio

no es necesario, y la realidad es que necesitamos a Dios en

nuestras vidas y dar ejemplo de su presencia en todo lo que

hacemos. ¿Si invitando a Dios al casarnos por la Iglesia, nos

va como nos va, que pasa si no lo tenemos?

Dia de Servicio con Jóvenes Adultos Ven hacer "Manos y pies de Cristo" con cientos de Jóvenes Adultos de edades de 18-39 en el Día Arquidiocesano de Jóvenes Adultos día de servicio y oración el sábado, 17 de marzo del 2018. Equipos servirán ayudando a las víctimas de Harvey, al enfermo, al pobre, al que tiene hambre, prisioneros, y los inmigrantes. El día empieza a las 8:30am con la Santa Misa celebrada por el Obispo Sheltz, seguido por el desayuno y saldremos en equipos a servir alrededor de la ciudad.
