Our mission is to love God, to love one another, and to love our community as committed followers of Jesus Christ.

Got to be proud of our students! Sunday night, I felt as though I was watching some of our students grow up right in front of my eyes.
It had been a long time since we’d asked our students to share experiences from one of their many mission trips, and I’m so glad we asked them to share after their spring-break mission trip to Savannah.
Working with the Savannah Baptist Association, Jeff and Malea Glenn led a team of students and adults in leading backyard Bible clubs, some remodeling work at a homeless shelter, and in feeding the homeless. They did their work in a rough part of town, in what turned out to be a cold and sometimes rainy week. It was a long, long way from a spring break at the beach!
Apparently, it was a major week for many of our students. They came home with photos, memories and stories. They left behind young children who’d enjoyed a week of games and attention. Our students were visibly moved by their experiences.
And the homeless shelter? It turns out that an application for federal funds was waiting on two construction projects to be completed. The woman in charge of the ministry had no idea how she would replace the flooring in one room, or the ceiling in another.
That’s where this mission trip made a difference. Both projects were completed, and as far as the director of the mission is concerned, the work was nothing short of a gift from God. God provided what she needed … through us. Aren’t you proud of our students and their leaders? I am!

VBS 2013 The largest children’s ministry of the year will be here soon. Why does that matter to you? Because it’s also that largest church ministry event of the year. More baptisms can be linked to VBS than any other ministry in the church. VBS links us with hundreds of new families each year. Because of the power of this ministry, we need to get started with the planning right now! This next Sunday we will begin the planning process for VBS 2013. If you are on the team, please join us.

As we’ve done for 50 years, we’re raising another generation of students on mission, and they’ll soon be adults on mission.
Want to join them? It’s not difficult. There are “mission trips” all around us. You’re already on one, this week. Just look around, see what needs to be done for the Kingdom of God, and get it done!
If you’d like to help out with the homeless shelter in Savannah, we happen to have another trip planned for adults, this June 24-29. If you’d like more information, call Lynn Matthews or the church office (923-5571)
I am so proud of our students and their incredible adult leaders. I am also grateful for everything our church does for missions, and for making mission trips possible. We just made a difference in Savannah … and Savannah just made a difference in us!
