    beautiful on the inside.

Meet Your New Neighbors By Cindy Shaw

You may recognize these familiar faces. They are Steve and PAtriciA tourtil- lotte of Marlborough, CT. In 2017, they purchased an RV lot at 32 Montego and spent the 2017-18 season here in Tropic Isles. When they decided they wanted to have more of a permanent place, they purchased 5 Basin in the spring of 2018. Steve and Patricia learned about Tropic Isles from their good friends, Charlyn and Bob Montie. They are still working full-time in Connecticut, so they will be part-time residents here in Tropic Isles. Patricia is an occupational therapist and Steve works as a powerhouse operator maintainer back in Connecticut. They en- joy boating, swimming, and socializing. They have done a lot of traveling in their RV, but are looking forward to getting a boat, doing some fishing, and exploring the waters around Tropic Isles. Please give a warm welcome to Steve and Patricia. I’d like to introduce you to our part- time neighbors, JoHN and MelodY SlAter, at 3106 10th St. W. They are from Salamanca, New York and discov- ered Tropic Isles through their sister-in- law, Sue Weaver. (According to Melody, Salamanca’s claim to fame is that it is the only city in the United States that is located on an Indian reservation.) The Slaters have three children—Benjamin (41), Erin (39), and Phillip (36). They also have five grandchildren—Zachary, Brianna, Kyleigh, Emily, and Sophie. John worked as a New York State Park Supervisor for 10 out of the 40 years he was with the park system. Melody was a third-grade teacher for 31 years. Melody retired to babysit for her grandkids before John retired years later. John is searching out new interests in his new retirement, but he does enjoy traveling and watching NASCAR racing. Melody enjoys scrapbooking, watching the grandkids play sports, and hunting for shark’s teeth. We are happy to welcome John and Melody to our little piece of paradise.

Fish on!!! *Doug Woulf caught his limit of Spanish Mackerel on March 10 to make his famous “Smoked Fish Dip” that everyone loves who has ever tasted it! He worked hard and stayed up late mak- ing the fish dip the night before the Boat Club fishing tourna- ment! He gives most of the fish dip away to TI friends/neighbors! What a guy! Yum!

    Tina Woulf

Our grandson, Jared De- Blecourt, caught this fish while staying with us on spring break. He caught it in the canal on Terra Ceia Dr. Thanks to Renee Belanger and Doug Woulf for netting it in for him. It was a Jack Crevalle.  Need- less to say, he was pretty happy!

letter From the editor This is the time of the year when we bid farewell to some of our snowbird neighbors and friends. We wish them a safe and healthy summer until their return. Those of us who “hold down the fort” while they are away, can look forward to quieter roads, less crowded restaurants, and warmer weather with the onset of the rainy season in June-September. With summer almost here, I would like to encourage everyone to send in pictures from your travels or fun activities this summer. You can email your pictures to [email protected] I would be happy to print them in the Breezes. Happy trails!
