Friendship “A friend loves at all times,”

Proverbs 17:17

[Jesus] said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Peter answered, “The Messiah of God.”

Luke 9:20

We all have friends on whom we rely for certain things and for certain reasons--the one who makes us laugh or has an encouraging word, the one we look to for guidance and advice, the one we count on when the chips are down. Time and shared experiences help us to know our best friends, our family of choice. Jesus asks his disciples, “who do you say that I am?” You walk with me daily. You see me and hear me and watch me perform miracles. You share moments of quiet and your deepest needs with me. After all that we’ve gone through together, who do say that I am? To be in relationship with Jesus or to say we are his followers requires us to know him as intimately and personally as we do our closest friends. Only then can we answer truthfully and knowingly the question he asks of his disciples. Who do you say that I am?

MOVING FORWARD: Who do you say Jesus is?

Have you shared this with him in prayer? What about with your family or the world?

FRIEND OF GOD

Is it true that You are thinking of me, How You love me, it's amazing.

I am a friend of God, I am a friend of God, I am a friend of God, He calls me friend.

From Our The month of August signals the end of a time to relax and the anticipation of something NEW! For school age children and their parents, it is the last opportunity to vacation, shop for new clothing and experience a farewell to another summer. It is the last chance to make new friends in travels and experienc-es that we do! Re-kindling old relationships can also occur to prepare us for getting back to the norm of the fall lifestyle! Many projects are often planned for a season but not always completed! What we possess is a sense of vision for the fu-ture and a desire to carry that to a reality. This is not based on seasons, but on knowing that we have something often not done before, that depends on us carrying it through! A new start, a new place, a new life can all be exciting or “scary”. Being a Christian for the first time or for a long time often gives us those feelings! Paul reminds us in 2nd Corinthians 5:17-19, the positive side of newness for the Christian. In Christ, the individual believer is a new creation because we are rec-onciled to God through Christ! He has taken us from a worldly view to one of eternal life, a new beginning! In Rev. 21:1, we will be a part of the new heaven and new earth which God will create for the believer at the end of time-nothing there for us to fear! Being a new creation ourselves is a gift from God. The forgiveness of sin through Christ’s action on the Cross is all part of God’s plan for the believer! Like never before, Recon-ciliation for humankind with God is needed but also available to those who accept Christ as their personal Savior! Only God could and did this for us so that, someday in glory, we will live with Him forever. His plan for us, in this time of waiting, is to share the Good News with a world hurting in their SIN! This NEW Creation has already started and we are to share in God’s Plan that not one person would be LOST! (John 3:16) Now we are living expectantly, watching for the August of change and opportunity, living for Him and not for our worldly desires. May the Lord richly bless and lead you in His plan for a NEW LIFE!

Yours in Christ, Pastor Eddie

Youth Sunday School (Junior & Senior High)

Teachers: Barbara Heilman and Kirk Wisler The Teen Sunday School Class continues to study Biblical lessons and apply them to their daily lives. One of the major resources for the content of the lessons is a website specif-ically for teen lessons. The seasons of the church calendar are reviewed and discussed as they occur. A weekly objective is for the students to use the Bible to locate books and chapters appropriate for the day’s lessons. Students are encouraged to take turns read-ing aloud. Discussion is held. Students also take turns each week to close the class in prayer.

Double Ring Class (Adults) Teacher: Leo H. Walters

This class bases the weekly presentations on a quarterly lesson plan developed by the Cokesbury Publishing Company. There are four different teachers that present the lessons on a rotating basis. Our goal is to provide insight on a scriptur-al topic while exploring ways that we can incorpo-rate the teaching into our daily lives. A study guide is provided for each attendee.
