Conference objectives • Name three lessons learned from Hurricane Sandy

• Describe the strain hurricanes can place on health care systems for up to two weeks after a storm

• Discuss the importance of training all staff on hurricane plans

• Outline major problems encountered pre- and post-evacuation

• Review 2013 weather predictions and sources

• Discuss how to use social media to discover and distribute storm information

• Describe AHCA’s 2013 expectations for facility personnel

• Outline the transportation challenges facility personnel may face before and after the storm

• State the benefits of a comprehensive disaster plan

• Describe the community recovery issues that may affect your health care facility

• Compare your pre- and post-conference ability to recover from a major hurricane

Continuing Education (CE Credits)6 contact hours will be awarded to ALF, Nurses, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, PT/PTA (FPTA approved), OT/OTA and dietitians. 6 NHA hours will be awarded by the FHCA.

St. Petersburg College (SPC) is an approved Florida CE Broker #50-2525.
