1. Country Plans
Guidelines for country plans to be agreed by MMB Country plans to be assessed for technical and Financial
Management compliance & approved by MMB Up to £100,000 pa per country Flexible e.g. initial 3 month inception plan followed by
substantive plan Secretariat to fund approved plans in tranches Technical and financial reporting will be required.

2. Country Support Plans
Inception period to June 2009 to enable Secretariat to understand country progress to date
Substantive support plans to be prepared for June – March 2009
Individual country plans based on country requirements and funding availability
Studies, meetings, Technical Assistance visits. To be approved by MMB.

Website – still under development Newsletters and Case studies Meetings to share knowledge and experience MeTA country information exchange International conference late 2009.

Civil Society Development
Additional Secretariat Funds available specifically to help the development of civil development
Specifically focussed on strengthening country civil society organisations to enable them to participate in MeTA
Up to £50,000 per country over the two years.

Civil society support programme
build skills in engaging with national policy processes, including the multi-stakeholder working groups envisaged by MeTA
build knowledge on issues related to access to medicines, transparency and accountability
build skills in methods used to promote greater transparency and accountability at national, district and community levels
build skills in the use of medicine price data and in policy advocacy.

Two international workshops– First, in Feb 2008, in Uganda for groups in Ghana, Uganda
and Zambia– Second, in June 2008, in the Philippines for groups in
Peru, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan and the Philippines

What next?
Up to the national civil society Over the next two years approx £50k/country available to
support civil society strengthening Could be for:
– National capacity strengthening workshops– Mapping of civil society– Coalition building – meetings, workshops, planning events– Action research– Seed funding to enable civil society to develop positions– Exchange visits
