Parker, Emily, Phoebe and Charlotte have taught me many things this term and I thank them. They have cer-tainly whet my appetite for our term 2 adventures.
Tracey and I have the holi-days to soak up our assign-ments for our Dyslexia & Learning Difficulties Course and read the new NSW sylla-buses which we will imple-ment in 2014.
The children and you have the holidays to soak up all the books they have request-ed to borrow.
Have a wonderful break; stay in your pj’s all day, stop and enjoy the gorgeous scenery, read..relax. Have fun!
Keep smiling!
‘Mrs Bourke, what is your most favourite thing in the world?”
Phoebe, yr 1, asked me this as we were sharpening pen-cils on Monday.
“Good question, Phoebe. Can I have a minute’s think-ing time?”
“You know what mine is? Learniing...I love learning !”
Phoebe bubbled out.
Now I know this little snippet may not seem much to many of you. BUT to me, and many teachers, it is a warm fuzzy that moistens your eyes, caresses your soul, eliciting that, ‘YES!’ The ‘YES!’ that tickles the skip in your step and totally makes your day.
Phoebe’s little gem is signifi-cantly special. It marks a curve in her learning journey;
she has faced her ‘risk mon-ster’, passed him at the cor-ner , turned the bend and is not looking back. Go Phoebe!
Fear of failure, fear of taking risks is one of the biggest hurdles to learning. Once we have squashed that fear, we are on our way.
Our You Can Do It mantra at Nowendoc Public has been strong this term. Parker, Emi-ly, Phoebe and Charlotte have been determined to improve with their own learn-ing AND determined to sup-port each other.
Parker has sat with Charlotte, determined to help her with her letter recognition. Emily is the leader of the cheer squad. Phoebe offers words of encouragement . Together they are determined to squash any ‘risk monster’ .

on the 11-12th May, Mother’s Day weekend.
Everyone is working so hard with their reading and letter recognition. Don’t forget to play ‘schools’ in the holidays and keep these skills going.
I look forward to a busy term two, full of learning.
I would like to congratulate the students on the quality of the art being sent to Cur-rabubula Small Schools Art Show.
I am very proud to be the teacher in charge of this activity and look forward to seeing the results on the student’s hard work.
The artworks will be on dis-play at Currabubula School
Easter Bilby Video Conference
Before Easter, we enjoyed an incursion, via video conference. We joined with three other NSW schools to learn about the endangered Bilby.
Parker, Emily, Phoebe and Charlotte amazed the other students and, even Janet, our guide, when they shared the collection of Australian animals living at Now-
endoc Public. Our white koala was a hit. We only wished the other schools could have seen us, when we went out to gather natural decorations, for the Easter basket activity. There perched in one of the smallest gums was our koala bub.
We didn’t have an Easter Bilby , or the Easter Bunny, we had the Easter Koala! Perhaps he was there for the Egg Hunt?
This incursion included discussions, puppets, film clips, and Easter basket craft. Aimed at children in K/1/2 it certainly entertained our little ones.
We hope you enjoy glimpses of this day as you read this newsletter.

Cross Country at Walcha Central
On Friday we went to Walcha High School for the Cross Country. We ran fastest and I was running faster so I came third. After the cross country I met Phoebe at
the park.
Emily, year 2
At the Cross Country I got a red ribbon.
Charlotte, Kindy
On Friday we went to the Cross Country to do running. I couldn’t wear my gum boots. I got the green ribbon.
Phoebe, year 1
On Friday we went to the High School at Walcha. We had to do the Cross Coun-try. I came fourth in my race. Then I had to go home.
Parker, year 2
Thank you to the parents, Mrs Lock and Mrs Lordanic for support-ing the children during the Cross
Country!
Zoo Mobile at Niangala
On Friday we went to Niangala to see animals . When we got to Niangala I saw the Zoo Mobile. We went into the BER building. We saw a stick insect, snake, echidna, lizard, possum and frog. After we saw the animals we painted a frog which I liked. Then we
played a game of frogs.

Zoo Mobile at Niangala
We went to Niangala. We saw animals like a stick insect, lizard, snake, frog, possum and echidna. We all patted them. After we saw the animals we saw different kinds of
frogs. The best bit was buying cakes at recess.
Parker, year 2
At Niangala we saw a frog, a possum, an echidna, a snake, a lizard and a stick insect. I liked the stick insect because it was climbing on the leaves and the echidna walking on the floor.
