The Next Idea (TNI) is an International restaurant and leisure consulting group, possessing exclusive international coverage. Based in Los Angeles, with offices in the UK, India, and Abu Dhabi (UAE). We work across the world, specializing in concept creation, re-positioning, and reviving under-performing businesses – everything from strategy, brand and product development, through to design, execution and communication. We are highly specialist and stay close to our expertise in food, food service operations, food & beverage manufacturing, restaurants, cafes, leisure and entertainment. Robert Ancill, CEO & Founder – The Next Idea LLC

Robert was educated in Glasgow, UK, earning HCIMA & MBA qualifications from HCIMA and University of Canterbury. His career spans over 25 years in the Restaurant, Retail & Hospitality Industries,

Robert has held VP or C-Level Executive positions at: Panera Bread, House of Fraser, Safeway, Planet Hollywood, El Gallo Giro, and the Aroma Café Group, a UK start up brand that was financed by Private Equity Group, Apax partners, and successfully sold to McDonalds. He has managed over 210 restaurant/café openings and the launching of 32 new concepts in the UK, Europe, UAE, China, Africa, India, & the US. Robert sits on the boards of two privately held companies (not including The Next Idea), and provides industry advice to a number of financial institutions regarding future restaurant trends and specific company diagnostics.

Richard Adler, Chairman (Non-Executive)

Richard holds a BS in Business Administration from Ohio University and a JD from Cleveland State University. He was certified by the Ohio Bar in 1968.

Richard founded Richard Adler Associates in 1988. The firm became a formidable real estate brokerage/ consulting company exclusively representing one of America's largest mall developers, and the leasing of the 57-story Key Tower designed by Cesar Pelli and 40-story Erieview Tower. Subsequently, along with various partners, Richard subsequently built a very successful Applebees franchise group growing it from 1 location to 22, and then launched a Panera Bread group growing if from 1 to 5 locations and successfully selling to another franchise group.

Harris Raphael, Managing Partner, Europe

Educated in UK & USA, qualified in Law (LLB) from the London School of Economics gaining a masters (MSc) in Comparative Politics. He then joined Barristers chambers in London.

Subsequently set up his own international consulting practice in business development and finance, having worked with a number of leading consultancy firms and marketing agencies including Saatchi and Saatchi, Leo Burnett and McKinseys. Harris joined The Next Idea in 2007.

Philippa Cresswell, Managing Director, United Kingdom

Philippa graduated Henley College with a BA in Hospitality. Her career spans over 25 years in the Restaurant, Retail & Leisure Industries, specializing in operations, Training, in-store restaurants and product development

Philippa has held Executive positions with some of the UK’s best known retail and travel brands including: Debenhams, House of Fraser, Next Retail Group and the Virgin Group. Philippa has consulted a range of high profile clients including Weight Watchers and Safeway Supermarket Group.

Khamis graduated from the higher college of Technology in Abu Dhabi, (UAE) with a High Diploma in Financial Services and a Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate Management from the higher college of Technology in Abu Dhabi.

He joined the family business in 2004 & became Managing Director in 2009. Khamis has a diversified portfolio of businesses (personal and family), which include: restaurant management & catering and sportswear brands.

Khamis opened The Next Idea, Abu Dhabi in 2011, and is in charge of all TNI client operations in the UAE.
