With a growing number of exhibitors and an increasingly impressive calendar of events covering various areas in this sector, Model Expo Italy is the landmark exhibition for modelling in Italy. The 12th edition is scheduled Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May at Veronafiere. The show already promises to be a marvellous event with 5 exhibition halls, 2 large outside show areas, 63,000 square metres of total area and 6 theme areas. The event in 2015 attracted 307 exhibitors, 188 associations and 70,000 visitors. Model Expo Italy embraces moments of entertainment and enjoyment for fans as well as new business opportunities, networking and visibility for producers, distributors, retailers and associations.

5 fully consolidated theme areas, a “Special Area” that will not only host slot cars, mini 4 WD and flight simulators but will also present a preview of the 5th edition of Roboval, a section devoted to “makers”, and Games District, a Special Show dedicated to games, are the stage setting for competitions, workshops and performances for an entire weekend of passion and fun.

WHEREVeronafiere is the leading direct organiser of trade shows in Italy, second in terms of turnover and among the leaders in Europe. Just a few kilometres from the main motorway exits, the Verona Exhibition Centre is also easily accessed from the Railway Station and is very close to the historic centre of Verona. MODEL AEROPLANESControlled remotely or with cables, free flight or drones: the entire universe of model aeroplanes is on show at Model Expo Italy. Young enthusiasts and well-known champions will be on hand to perform in large indoor areas, as part of a growing passion in Italy. Model Expo Italy will be a meeting point fans of helicopter modelling, a hobby appealing to more and more people thanks to astonishing developments in digital transmitters making piloting even easier as well as new electric motors.

MODEL BOATSThe Europe’s largest boat tank will host a huge programme of spectacular performances. Submarines, yachts, large passenger ships and sailing ships of old, all finished down to the tiniest detail and on display to audiences, creating one of the most vibrant and fascinating sections of the event.

MODEL CARSStatic or dynamic, internal combustion or electric: this section provides a broad overview of model cars at the same time as ensuring thrilling spectacle. Radio-controlled model cars, off-road model cars, auto-crawlers and tanks are the protagonists of races of national status. An entire Hall and a large outdoor area will be home to the main national associations for competitions and events dedicated to fans of all ages.

MODEL RAILWAYSA passion that is not only a hobby but also knowledge: model railways at Model Expo Italy define the boundaries of Italy’s history and geography through kilometres of track, waggons, locomotives and increasingly realistic scenarios.Scales from H0 to N: the railway models on display are constructed using all the main scales of reproduction and, thanks to the latest technology, combine extraordinary technical skills handed down over the generations.

STATIC MODELSNot only classic toy soldiers, tanks and military vehicles - Model Expo Italy has so much more to offer! Valuable collections of aeroplanes, boats, cars, motorcycles and amazing dioramas will all enhance the static modelling area.The Dolls House section is bigger and better than ever, as well as the area dedicated miniature environments with furniture, accessories, objects and characters faithfully reproduced in 1:12 scale.

SPECIAL AREA2016 also welcomes an impressively expanded Special Area hosting slot cars, mini 4 WD and flight simulators; there is also a preview of the 5^ edition of Roboval, the event dedicated to “makers”.1,200 square meters are dedicated to slot car enthusiasts and makers; the Mini 4WD section provides space for incredibly fast 1:32 scale cars made famous by Japanese cartoons. In addition, there are also civil and military flight simulators that, thanks to the power of today’s computers, re-create flights over increasingly realistic and detailed scenarios.This area also welcomes makers, from craftsman to engineers, young talent and well-known professionals. Manufacturing approaches alongside Innovation 2.0 are the subjects of workshops, competitions and interactive meetings.

The universe dedicated to the game in all its multiple forms! Games District,following the success of 2015, is enriched with new and exciting events forthe public. Board games, video games, cosplay, events, competitions andperformances will enliven the new pavilion entirely dedicated to the event.

GAMES PLAZAThis is the games square: the area is home to board-game demo tables, from newcomers to great classics and independent realities.A large section is entirely dedicated to tournaments: Magic - Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier, Bang!, XWing, Krosmaster, Sushi Dice, Coloni di Catan, Monopoly, Cluedo, BloodBowl, Splendor, Scrap & Speed paint contest.

COSPLAY PLAZAThis is the most spectacular area of the Games District and this year it’s dedicated to choreographic exhibitions and workshops.You will be able to re-live unforgettable moments, such as the famous “Leap of Faith” from the Assassin’s Creed video games - a real jump into the void on a Stunt Airbag, or learn how to take a pretend punch or even a light-sabre duel with true athletes.

STAGE AREAThe Games District stage is more spectacular and dynamic than ever: guests, concerts, dj sets, challenges between cosplayers, parades and award ceremonies will liven up the two-day event.The area will not only host the finals of the most eagerly-awaited Games District tournaments, including Street Fighter, PacMan and Fifa but will also be the place for meetings with guest authors!

VIDEOGAMESAll the latest news in the world of videogames are here!Games District will be home to a large lan station with dozens and dozens of inter-connected machines for amazing multi-player games and a full-scale stage equipped for your virtual “Rock Band” of frenzied Just Dance competitions.

LEGO TOWNThe area dedicated to Lego will be even bigger than ever, with a wealth of reproductions that over the years have become increasingly detailed. The most important LUGs and more than 100 afol-adult Lego fans, from all over Italy, will display their most important creations; City, Trains, Technic, Star Wars, Vintage,

GAMES DISTRICT

Space, Castle, Pirates, Robotics and much more besides are the heart of this area.

STAR WARS SPACEAll the main characters from the Star Wars saga will “land” in the Games District to provide a warm welcome with 1:1 scale replicas of the most spectacular aspects of the films and video games.Visitors will be able to snap marvellous souvenir photos with all the figures taking part. And for the most passionate fans, the most eagerly-awaited event is the parade that tour every part of Model Expo Italy.

BACK IN TIMEIf you love vintage aspects of the games world, this is the place for you. Back in time is the section dedicated to retro-gaming in all its forms. Old pinballs and consoles for arcade challenges and tables with 1980s and 1990s board games.The section is also embellished by space dedicated to vintage collecting with Comics, Action Figures, board games and old collectible video games.

JUNIOR AREAThe Games District is full of games for everyone: an innovation for 2016 is the space dedicated to children with laboratories and workshops.An area for children 4 to 12 years old, with appropriate board games for them.The most imaginative will especially enjoy the fantastic face painting area.

OUTDOOR AREASIn addition to indoor activities, the Games District this year also boasts an outdoor area where visitors can see two “live” sports linked with the world of Cinema and Video Games: Laser Tag is a team game where players seek to eliminate each other using high-tech laser rifles that are absolutely harmless but extremely realistic; Quidditch is the sport described in the Harry Potter books: players ride magic brooms to try and catch a flying jack (interpreted by another player) and score as many points as possible by throwing the ball through several suspended hoops.
