It is very important that parents/guardians take time to read the school newsletter each month.
If you are NOT interested in receiving a paper copy of the Betty Gibson newsletter
as you are viewing it on our webpage, please let the office know.
Also, as an incentive for the students to take home their newsletters, you may enter your family for a free pizza
voucher donated by Little Caesars Pizza. Newsletters are sent home on the 1st school day of the month with the
oldest/only child in the family. The draw will be made 1st thing, the morning of the 5th school day of the month.
Entries can be brought to the office. One entry per family.

REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE Monday, November 10th ~ 2:00 p.m.
Parents are welcome to attend
Service will be held in the gymnasium
Any students who are involved in Cadets, Cubs, Brownies, Girl Scouts, etc. should wear their uniforms that day as they will be marching in and out for the ceremony.
After-School Arrangements
Please discuss with your children be-fore they come to school your ar-rangements for appointments during the day as well as after-school rides, etc. While we realize emergencies do arise, we would ask that you help to reduce the number of phone calls to the office while at the same time teaching your children the responsibil-ity of remembering arrangements.
STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES - NOVEMBER 20 We look forward to the upcoming Student-led Conferences as an opportunity to recognize and celebrate student learning. The participation of your children in the conferences requires preparation by the teacher and the student. A Student Portfolio highlighting areas of accomplishment is a valuable assessment tool, as well as a source of pride for students. During the student-led conference, students will gain experience in self-evaluation and goal setting supported by parents and teachers. We believe from this experience students will grow as learners who take responsibility for their achievements and goals.
FIRE CHIEF OF THE DAY!
A grade 4 student from Betty Gibson School was Fire Chief of the Day on Oct. 7th. This was his experience:
My day started like any other day except, I didn’t have to go to school. I was
picked to be a Brandon Fire Chief for the day. My mom dropped me off at the
#1 Fire Hall. When everyone was there we did presentations. The mayor of
Brandon was at the presentation, Ronald McDonald, Fire Fighter Troy and Gar-
ry Bell. After that we did tours and activities and a group photograph. When
that was finished we went to the north McDonald’s, had lunch and got to play
for 30 minutes. After that we went to the Emergency Services College. Then
we went back to school with a bag full with awesome stuff.

peers will come and ask them to
play.
Great job Betty Gibson students!
The Grade 2/3 and 3/4 classes partic-
ipated in “Socktober” throughout the

world just a little more awesome!!
Stay tuned for our final count!
PATROL INFORMATION
Our patrols cover two intersections ; 12th and Van
Horne and 11th and Van Horne. Please have a conver-
sation with your child about respecting our patrols and
the very important job they do. They are there to help
our very youngest students to our oldest students cross
the street safely. We would also like to thank you in
advance for any encouraging words you offer our
patrols as they are a dedicated bunch of kids who do a
great job for our school. The Police Constable who has
been assigned to our school requires that all parents
also use the Patrols to cross the street.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
