Dear Lily Enthusiasts and Gardening Friends:
Welcome to our 2020 lily bulb catalogue. This year is our 25th anniversary in the mail order business! A special thank you to are many loyal customers who have supported us over the years, some of you ordering every year! We hope you will enjoy the beauty of the lilies you now have growing in your gardens.
We are sure as you peruse our new listing you will find many exciting lilies, over 30 new listings as well as many ones we have re-listed from the past. We draw your attention to just a few, in our Asiatic listing you can find a three new tango hybrids ideal for your gardens, 'Chocolate Event', Stracciatella Event' and Strawberry Event' to whet your appetite. Also a few new pollenless cultivars such as; 'Easy Beat', 'Easy Love', 'Mandarin Star' and 'Spring Pink'. Some hybridized in North America include 'Morpho Pink', 'Sweet Surrender', Purple Reign' and 'Trogon' just to name a few. Other note-worthy cultivars you will find in the Division VIII section are 'Easter Morn', 'Purple Marble', 'Avalon Sunset', 'November Rain' and Sunset Boulevard'. We will leave it up to you to check out their background.
We are excited to introduce new hybrids from the work of Dr. Wilbert Ronald. One of these is a new OT named 'Majestic Sensation', pictured on our front cover. In the 'Unique Division VIII' section there are two new three-way crosses, 'Easter Dazzle' and 'Easter Glow' which consists of trumpet, oriental and longiflorum genes.
This year we dedicate our catalogue to Dr. Robert Griesbach. Bob's hybridizing program with his passion for lilies has brought us many exquisite hybrids from many different divisions, He was also a pioneer in tetraploid breeding. He will be sadly missed by many lily enthusiast.
Over the 25 years, many of our special lily friends and hybridizers are now deceased. It has been my honour to have known many of them who help build my love for lilies with their passion and expert advise for the genus lilium.
Happy Gardening with Lilies! - Nigel, Mimi & Joyce

LET’S GROW LILIES! (By Virginia Howie) A very easy to read 48 page well illustrated handbook on topics such as growing, cutting & showing, propagation, hybridizing and lots more. Excellent for the beginner as well as the more advanced lily grower. Price $13.95
Lily bulbs are never completely dormant so they must be planted as soon as possible. If for some reason you are unable to plant your bulbs im-mediately, keep them refrigerated until you can plant them.
Location: It is important to choose the right location. Lilies require di-rect sunlight for part to all of the day. They also require “Well Drained Soil”. A medium sandy loam soil with a reasonable amount of humus is ideal. Peat moss can also be added. Heavy soils can be lightened with coarse sand and peat moss. If using manure, make sure it is well rotted and use as top dress only; otherwise it can cause damage to the bulbs by lowering their disease resistance.
Planting: Most lilies should be planted to a depth of 6” and 12-16” apart. Trumpets and orientals should be planted to a depth of 8” for ex-tra winter protection. Place your lily bulb with its roots down and scale points up. A little bone meal may be added at this time. Cover with your soil mixture. Pack the soil in well around your bulb. It is important to thoroughly water your bulbs in after planting so the soil settles around the bulb to prevent any air pockets.
Lilies make a nice show if they are planted in triangular groups of 3 per variety.
The Lily Nook GuaranteeWe guarantee our bulbs to be true to name and healthy upon arrival. We cannot, however, be reasonably held responsible for any bulb loss due to circumstances beyond our control such as unusual weather conditions, i.e. sudden deep freezes without snow cover, or prolonged rainfall, soilconditions, cultivation or lack of care. Guarantee is for garden plantedbulbs, not container planting, or any other types of winter storage overwhich we have no control. Spring planted bulbs that fail to grow must bereported by July 1st the same growing season.
