From the Pastor’s Desk
Greeting in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Often I have heard people say “I would if I could.” This statement looks at our own
strength or the lack there of. It is not fixing our eyes on Christ and trusting Him to do what He
wants to do in and through us. I remember my parents saying “Can’t never did anything.” You
see, there were many times as I was growing up that I was afraid to do something and I would
tell my mom or dad that “I can’t…” That is when they would say “Can’t never did anything.”
Believing that “I can’t” places a severe limit on our life and refuses to allow God to do the lit-
tle and big things that He so wants to do in our life. Therefore, we must make room for God to
move in our life. We will never know that the Lord can do through us if we don’t trust Him. I
believe that faith flips that statement around.
The Holy Spirit can turn it to “I could if I would…”
* I could forgive if I just would by faith.
* I could have joy if I just would by faith.
* I could be free if I just would by faith.
* I could step out and be obedient if I just would by faith.
* I could endure if I just would by faith.
* I could move forward in my life if I just would by faith.
* I could let go of the past if I just would by faith.
* I could be obedient if I would by faith.
God wants to increase your faith, your joy and your capacity to live. Without faith, it is
impossible to please God. We see many examples in Scripture. The bowl of flour was not ex-
hausted nor did the jar of oil become empty. Five fish and two loaves of bread fed five thou-
sand. The fishermen caught no fish until they cast the net on the other side of the boat in obe-
dience to the Lord Jesus command to cast it out one more time and the net was full of fish.
This list goes on. We must turn loose of the phrase, “I can’t” or “I would if I could.” Do you
trust the Lord with all that you are, all you have and all that you do?
April is here and Spring has sprung. Thank the Lord almighty for the warmer weather and
the beautiful flowers. As we continue through the Lenten season heading up to Easter we con-
tinue to be busy. Sunday, April 2 will be our final Lenten Renewal Service for this year. Sun-
day, April 9 is Passion/Palm Sunday and we will celebrate with a procession of the palms.
Thursday, April 13 we will celebrate Holy Thursday or Maundy Thursday in a service at 7:00
pm. Friday, April 14 we will observe Good Friday in a Tenebrae Service beginning at 7:00
pm. Sunday, April 16 is Resurrection Sunday (or Easter). Our activities will begin at 6:30 am
with the community Sunrise Service hosted by Promise Land Ministries on B & S Lane, and
the Rev. Neil Bowman preaching. At 10:00 am we will have our Easter Worship Service with
our choir’s presentation of the cantata titled “Were You There?” and we will be flowering the
cross, which is always a beautiful celebration. On Sunday, April 30 we will celebrate
“Children’s Sunday” and receive a special offering in our “Noisy Sunday.” In addition, we
have a full slate of normally schedules meetings.
Folks, our prayer list continues to grow and I urge you to find personal devotional time
each day to spend some time with God and lift up the concerns of our church. Pray for guid-
ance as to what gifts you have and what you are called to do for the church and for God.
Please do not say “I can’t” or “I would if I could.” Grace and peace to you all,
Pastor Dale Bost

UMW NEWS
The UMW met on Monday, March 13. Upcoming fundraisers and events
were discussed. Great refreshments were enjoyed prepared by Frances
Hall and Holly Campbell. Out next meeting will be on Monday,
April 10th and Nancy Johnson will share about her recent
trip to Cambodia.
God’s Kids Club April is here and we have several activities planned for our GKC Kids! Our first activity
will be on April 9th for our Community Easter Egg Hunt. This will take place from 3 to 5 on that Sunday afternoon. We
will have our annual Egg Hunt, crafts, games, and food! I hope all of our kids can join and bring a friend. Also, thank
you to all of those who have donated items for our egg hunt. At the end of April we will have our Children's Sunday. All
of our kids will be participating in the service that Sunday morning. After church we invite everyone to join us at Beth-
lehem Park for some food, fun, and fellowship! This is always a fun event for anyone of any age.
This will be my last month as Children's Coordinator and I just want to thank everyone for their love and support
over the past several years. I have enjoyed working with the kids of our church and I will always have a special place for
them in my heart. Candace Bolick, Children’s Coordinator
UMYF Our weekly UMYF meetings will resume
in April, coming off our shared time together with the
larger congregation for Lenten Renewal Services. Our
first meeting will start back on April 9th, which is also
the date of the Community Easter Egg Hunt; UMYF
members will be helping with the event in exercising
their honed egg-hiding abilities on the church grounds.
We are considering an outing with the UYMF, to-
wards the end of the month, probably either the 23rd or
the 30th. Dates and details are still being worked out, but
there has been some interest floating around (weak pun)
in returning to a trampoline park…so we may try to
oblige. Specifics for the outing will be provided to the
group and parents as they are decided earlier in the
month.
Our discussions and time together this month will
focus around the crux of the gospel narrative (another
weak pun): resurrection. What does it mean to live in
and through the lens of resurrection today? How might
we work in that vision of resurrection, and hold our
neighbors in that embrace of hope, love, and re-
creation? See you at Youth!
May the Lord bless and keep you,
Andrew Bolick
