It was great to see so many students and staff dress up for the event and get into the spirit of book week. Thank you to those members of our school community that came along to our character parade and read on a rug on Tuesday. We even had a visit from The Incredibles. Thank you to our wonderful organising committee for putting together a great morning. Please note that due to student health and safety concerns the canteen can no longer heat lunches up that are bought in from home. If your child prefers a hot lunch these can be ordered from the canteen where a selection of hot foods are available. Next Thursday 29 August the P&C will be holding its Father’s Day stall in the school hall with gifts ranging from 50c to $15. If your child is bringing in money for the stall please ensure it is bought to school in an envelope clearly marked with their name and class. Thanks to those who have already returned tickets in the Father’s Day raffle. These were sent home earlier this week and cost $2 per ticket or 3 for $5. (All the great costumes for Book Week)

Emerton Public School is currently reviewing its policy on mobile phone/device usage by students and until we have updated our policy it is important to note the following: 1. Emerton Public School strongly discourages students from bringing mobile phones/devices to school. 2. Mobile phones/devices should be switched off as soon as students enter the school grounds. 3. All mobile phones/devices are to be handed to the front office and signed in by the student and a member of school staff when the student arrives at school. Devices can be collected at the end of the school day where they will be signed out by the student. 4. Students should mark their mobile phones clearly with their names. 5. Students are not permitted to bring mobile phones on school excursions and overnight camps or any school function under any circumstances. 6. The school accepts no responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged phones in the instance that they have not been signed in at the school office by either the principal or a member of school staff. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with regard to the use of mobile phones/devices at Emerton Public School. “Don’t forget the Aerogard and aveagoodweekend” Nathan Smith Principal Book Week On Wednesday August 20th, we celebrated Book Week with our fantastic Book Parade. This year’s theme for Book Week was Reading is my Secret Power.’

It was amazing to see so many students and teachers dressed as their favourite book character. Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who came to watch and participate in Read on a Rug after the parade.

Emerton Athletics Carnival Results Our K-6 Carnival was held in week 2 on 2nd August. Results have been collated and the Zone Team has been put together.

Coming first in an event at our carnival doesn’t automatically mean that you will be going to the Zone Carnival. We have Zone qualifying times and distances to consider as well as events that are judged as Junior and so are the best of the 8, 9 and 10 years age groups. These Junior events are the 200m, 800m, Long Jump and Shot Put. We run these events as age competitions at our carnival to allow our children to place in their age groups.

Emerton Athletics Carnival results are as follows:
