They will be sharing a couple of songs in our morning service and in full concert at 6:30pm. Daves Highway is the Mississippi-based trio comprised of teen siblings Delaney, Zachary and Erika Daves. Since posting a home video on YouTube in 2009, the group has gained more than 8 million video views, released 2 CDs, and have made concert and TV appearances across the country. The trio’s voices combine to create a beautiful musical blend, which can only be created by what’s known as “blood harmony.” According to Zachary, music has always been a part of their lives whether at home, church or in school. Their style widely ranges from one style to another and has blessed audiences of all ages. There is no charge for the concert, but a love offering will be taken. The Tower Page 2

With our move to Olive Branch we have changed the name and format of our church’s newsletter. Someone told me a few days ago that when they got “The Tower,” they almost threw it away thinking it was the Watchtower (a Jehovah’s Witness publication.) I hope they were just kidding. Our Tower has nothing in common with the Watchtower. This is just one more example of the importance of paying attention and not assuming anything. Speaking of paying attention, have you noticed how full our Worship Center has been, even in the “summer slump” weeks? We are making plans to open the risers, if our attendance continues to grow. Once the main floor reaches about 80% capacity, we will need to move to the risers in order to continue to make room for new families. I also want to thank you for your sweet spirit about our lack of parking space. We had no idea we would be “full” from the first week. Bill Sowell, and his Security Team, is doing a great job helping with this problem. We have asked the sheriff to have one of his officers help direct traffic. Not all of the bugs have been worked out, but we are trying our best. Thank you for your patience. It is such a honor and joy to serve as your Pastor. I think I am one of the luckiest men alive. God has blessed us in such a special way. God’s hand of favor is upon our people and our church. However, never forget that if we stop following God and walking by faith, His favor can depart as quickly as it came. Israel wandering 40 years in the desert is proof of that. Lets covenant together to keep our eyes on God, to love one another and to live expecting God to do great things in our lives.

FROM REV. PHIL ANDERSON, ASST. PASTOR & MIN. OF EDUCATION

Outreach Changes God has blessed us in the past few weeks with so many wonderful new faces. With all these new folks that God is sending our way, we need to increase our outreach efforts to get to them all. Starting Monday, August 4, 2014, we will have outreach twice a month rather than once a month (at least until time change). Come join us as we go out to visit those who have been visiting us. We will meet at 5:30 to eat, then pair up and go visiting at 6:00. We will meet back at the church at 7:30 for a report/praise time and dessert. We need everyone who can to participate in this outreach event. If you are timid and reluctant, we will pair you up with someone who will do all the talking. Let’s share the excitement of LHBC!

Cuba Mission Trip I have been invited to participate in a Missions opportunity to Cuba. Cuba is allowing a small number of Americans to come and work on construction of a Baptist Church. We will help in this construction process (not very technical), and be teaching local Christians, “Sharing Jesus Without Fear.” In addition to my going, there are two (2) spots available if you are interested in participating in the missions effort. Please contact Bro. Phil as soon as possible. Hopefully, this will open up to be an opportunity we can enjoy for many years to come. God is at work all around the world getting the Gospel message out to the masses. The date of the mission trip is January 9-16, 2015. The cost will be approximately $1,500 (depending on the airfare.) We have until the end of August to turn in the names of those who are going.

A WORD FROM. . .

OUR PASTOR

Our Deepest Sympathy: Dr. Butler, and his wife Lawanda, would like to extend our church’s sympathy to: J. B. & Mary McNeil & family on the loss of their son-in-law, Tim Upright, to Fran Loyd & Casey & Robert Cook & families on the loss of Fran’s mother, Ruthie Sartin, to Margaret & Frank Ferrante on the loss of Frank’s mother, Rose Ferrante and to Ronnie & Glenda Boyd on the loss of Ronnie’s cousin, Larry Hampton.

Teacher Dedication Service August 10 Teachers are back in their rooms and our kids begin school on August 7. Our church will be holding its annual “Teacher Dedication Service” on Sunday morning, August 10. It is not easy to be a teacher in today’s culture, yet we desperately need godly teachers. They are like modern day missionaries on a foreign field. LaBelle wants to thank all of the men and women who work as teachers, aides or administrative personnel in both public and private schools. We want to pray for them as they begin this new school year. As a church we pledge our love and support. We will have a special time of dedication for them. Our church also has a gift to give each teacher as our way of showing our love. This service is open to all teachers and aides, whether they are members or not.

LaBelle. . . .Then and Now We have been at our new church home in Olive Branch for 6 weeks. Our prayer had been for God to send revival as we made this bold move. Little did we know everything God had in store for us. Since our move we have shot past revival and gone straight into the miracle category. Below are just a few things God has done. Worship Attendance: 2010 61 per week 2013 324 per week 2014 370 per week (before our move) 2014 603 per week (since the move) Ministry Receipts: (Budget and Building Fund) 2010 $ 6,922 per week 2013 $17,146 per week 2014 $19,787 per week (before our move) 2014 $22,104 per week (since the move) Our worship increased by 86% over last year, and 63% over this year while we were still in Memphis. Your giving has increased 29% over last year. We have been exceeding our budget needs by 52%. Great job! To God be the glory!

Youth News! By Jamie & Jenny Mullen

Fall brings more than cooler temperatures to us. Our youth group has many exciting things starting this fall. Below are just a few of them: Youth Mission Project—Beginning August 17

th, our

youth, in an effort to minister to the Olive Branch community and lovingly support our sponsor school, Lewisburg, will be collecting extra school supplies for children in need. On August 17

th, the “big blue buckets” will be in the atrium area to

collect the donated school supplies. (Some ideas: notebooks, pens, pencils, hand sanitizer, dry erase markers, etc.) All supplies collected will be delivered to Lewisburg as a Christmas gift to help with school supply needs during the second semester. 5th Quarters—This fall we will be hosting the 5th Quarters once again following all Lewisburg football home games. 5th Quarters help the youth to experience a variety of fun, food, games, and a devotion, all in a safe and loving environment. I am looking for lots of help with this unique ministry, if you are interested, please contact us. New Fall Bible Series—This fall we are starting a new Bible series entitled “FaceTime: An Intimate Look At Who God Is.” It is our desire to see your youth go much deeper in their walk with God. As always, we can use more chaperones and general help with this growing ministry. If God has laid on your heart the need to help disciple or just work with and love on our youth, please see Jenny or myself.
