Ms M Catherine & Mrs G Harrison - KHC Class Teacher

Stage News

It has been a very busy week in KHC this week. We have been learning about deep sea animals and creating some lovely pieces of art. Our classroom is looking more and more like the sea each week! During maths this week we have been learning about 2D shapes and have created some Aboriginal dot paintings using these 2D shapes. During cooperative play times we have been working together to build some very impressive structures. It is wonderful to see the students working so well together in KHC.

Soccer ReportWeek 4 Match day 2 PSSA A-TeamThis week the A-team played Middle Harbour. The score ended at 5 to 0 to us. It was a great game and we all had lot of fun.

The game kicked off with us holding possession. The first goal scored was by Tom in Year 5 with a brilliant header off a corner whipped in by Guillermo. The goal following was scored by Seisa. During the game there were a lot of opportunities which we didn’t take, but there were some great shots taken by the team. Near the end of the first half Josh converted a wonderful top shot.

The start of the second half started off with a goal by Seisa. We were getting tired so we lost possession easily so they got the ball and they were on the break but a diving Gerry saved us from what would have been a great goal. Later in the second half Seisa scored his third goal of the game to its 5 – 0 end, giving Seisa his second hat-trick of the season.

Year 3 enjoyed a very productive excursion to the Coal Loader at Balls Head Reserve last Tuesday. We were very lucky to have superb weather on the day! We listened to an local Aboriginal heritage officer describe the Indigenous history of the area. We then saw an Aboriginal rock carving. We also explored the sustainable garden and a fun art activity. A great day was had by all!!

This term, Year 1 have been writing their very own imaginative recounts ‘Just Another Extraordinary Day’, adapted from Rod Clement’s ‘Just Another Ordinary Day’. They took the original text and have transformed it to match the amazing illustrations. They have been doing this by using a variety of grammatical techniques such as changing the recount from third to first person, describing the pictures details using adjectives and experimenting with compound and complex sentences to create a detailed and descriptive recount. Have a look at some the extraordinary work they have done so far!

New Uniform Shop Coordinators Needed I am looking for 2-3 people to take over the role of Uniform Shop Coordinator, as I am stepping down at the end of this term (1 July) and would like to have plenty of time to hand over the reins of this volunteer role. No experience is necessary, you will be given all the information you need. Shared between 2-3 people, this will be a manageable role and a great way to be involved in the school. Please email me for more details.

Thanks,Elizabeth & the Uniform Shop [email protected]
