Who can stand before His indignation? Who can endure the burning of His anger? His wrath is poured out like fire And the rocks are broken up by Him.

We Are NOT Exempt• Those who claim to be Christians are not exempt.

– 26 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. 28 Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY." THE CROSS

How can God display LOVE and HATRED for sinners at

the same time?

The Cross “Saves”• From what?• Sin?• The Wrath of God!!!– “Much more then, having now been

justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.”

-Romans 5:9

The Cross “Saves”• From what?• Sin?• The Wrath of God!!!– “and to wait for His Son from heaven ,

whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come.” -1 Thess. 1:10

The Cross• Jesus is our propitiation– 1 John 2:2– “and He Himself is the

propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. “

– An atoning sacrifice that brings reconciliation and mercy

– Our sin, that made us subject to the wrath of God, can be removed

The Cross• “For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to

dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. 21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard” -Col 1:19-23
