The Jasmine Spray
A thought unspoken a hand unpressdA look unseen and a love unguessdAnd souls that are mated live apartNever to know how heart beat with
heartNever to whisper and know the truthTill gone for aye is their wasted youth
For she did not know how my pulsesleapt
As over my temples her tresses sweptWhen archly she gave me the jasmine
sprayDown by the brookside that evening in
MayI gazed in her eyes till her cheeks
grew redThat was long ago andourJYouth has
fled 4gNow a sad faced woman waits for
death-Murmuring a name beneath her breathAnd a cynical man now scoffs and jeersat women and love but with bitter
tearsKisses at night as he kneels to prayA faded wreath of a jasmine spray
