A word from Barry Morris,

Chair of ISB’s Board of Trustees

Dear Friends of the International School of Boston,

Welcome to the 2010 Eureka Gala!

As always, it is a great pleasure for all of us to see the ISB community, parents, alumni and friends, gathered together for this special evening. The 2010 Eureka Gala is an important moment in the life of our school for one main reason. For the third year in a row, we have a specific student-centered pro-ject, towards which we have been directing our efforts, cul-minating in tonight’s exciting event.

In 2008, the Casablanca Gala raised funds for the long awaited, all-weather playground. In 2009, the "Shall We Dance" Gala made it possible to build and equip our state of the art Math Lab.

Tonight, with your help, we will finally be able to take our first steps into the new space of the 4th floor of our Cam-bridge campus and construct over this coming summer vaca-tion a magnificent, new, superbly-equipped Science Lab, in time for the start of the new academic year in September 2010.

This is an ambitious project. The ISB community has never before launched a campaign to raise a total of $250,000 within just eight months. However tonight, I feel very confi-dent because of the wide consensus of support we have al-ready received throughout the whole ISB community for this important initiative. Our students and teachers deserve noth-ing less than the best we can give them. The new Science Lab therefore represents a major step forward in the ISB’s con-tinuing venture towards excellence.

I wish to sincerely thank you all for your continuing and con-crete support of the school and the community it serves. At the end of the day, all of the efforts of our board, administra-tion, faculty and staff are directed solely towards ensuring the happiness, well-being and progress of our children at ISB. Enjoy a magical evening tonight at the 2010 Eureka Gala!

With my warmest regards and gratitude,

Barry Morris, Chair Board of Trustees International School of Boston

Viña Maipu is imbued with the history and culture of traditional Argentine

wine-making. Our centenary winery, located in the foothills of the Andes, sits

amidst one of the world's great grape-growing and wine - producing regions.

Maipú’s vineyards are among the very best in Argentina. Our wines fully reflect

our crystalline air, pure mountain water, sandy and stony soil, whose pH and

mineral content, unbeatable thermal amplitude, ample sun and just-enough

rain combine to make our vines among the best in the world. The careful selec-

tion of grapes, attention to detail during production and storage in oak casks

for 8 months, result in our Reserve red wines which provide excellent balance

between fruit and wood with great body and excellent structure. Among our

white wines are some produced without contact with oak, with good mineral-

ity and acidity, unlike some over-oaked California-style "fruit bombs."

Our experience of over a century in wine making, our old first-growth Euro-

pean vines, together with the patient labor of our oenologists has led to pro-

ducing wines with local character. Our Viña Maipu wines are smooth with ex-

cellent balance, light but persistent and offer a uniform structure to the palate

that make them the ideal complement for fine food.

and continue to develop, a vast network of local growers, farmers, and produc-

ers whom we rely on for the majority of what we sell.

MODERNISTA - We believe advertising is more of an art than a science and

that truly great creative work is priceless in today's cluttered market of parity

products. Our goal is to work with a select group of clients who love and ap-

preciate great advertising as much as we do and who truly want our help build-

ing their brand. Lastly, we wish to create a work environment that fosters re-

sponsibility, brilliance and passion, and one that is agile enough to move

swiftly in today's business environment.

SKY SADDLE WINES - We are committed to local sustainable agriculture. Sky

Saddle is a small family wine business in Sonoma County making fine wines

exclusively from organic and/or biodynamic grapes. Sky Saddle Wines are lim-

ited edition to just 1000 cases each year. These hand-crafted and award-

winning wines made from certified organically grown grapes.

LORD & TAYLOR - We think that shopping should be an experience - and

we're always looking for new ways to enhance that experience. We have

added to our list of customer services, and we are continuing to bring you the

designer names you want as well as enhancing our own exclusive lines. We've

also made online shopping easier by editing our merchandise assortments with

After spending one year in London, Lulu came back to Paris to participate in a tribute concert to Serge Gainsbourg, where he played a Beethoven piece in June 2007. Lulu was then accepted at Berklee College of Music for the Fall 2007. In Spring 2008, he composed a song for a friend who needed a piece of music for a steeplechase challenge. In January 2009, Lulu composed a song for Marc Lavoine, a French singer and actor – the song is on his 10th album released on September 2009, more than 400,000 copies sold. He also participated in his sister’s second album (in collaboration with Beck.) In the Summer 2009, he made a tribute to his father at the Beehive (famous bar where many teachers/students from Berklee and other great musicians perform) in Boston for Bastille day, July 14 and performed as a singer, composer and pianist with his close friends, Tony “Thunder” Smith on Drums, Stan Harrisson on Sax, John K. on Bass, and Gary Georgett (who graduated from Berklee many years ago) on Keys.

Since the Fall of 2007, Lulu Gainsbourg has been studying at Berklee in Film Scoring , Contemporary Writing and Production in order to become a talented musician, arranger and composer.

Lucien Gainsbourg, alias

LULU GAINSBOURG,

was born on January 5, 1986. Son of Serge Gains-bourg, a major French art-ist, and Bambou (model and singer), brother of

Charlotte Gainsbourg (famous actress and singer), Lulu became famous very quickly. He was only 270 day old when his father composed a song called “Lulu”, sung by his mother. In 1988, Serge Gainsbourg performed his last live tour “The Zenith” and his son Lulu, who was 2, came on stage for a song his father had written for him, called “Hey men, Amen,” and at this occasion was introduced to the French public. On March 2, 1991, Lulu’s father passed away. Since his father’s death, Lulu has often ap-peared in magazines, interviews as well as on TV shows. Lulu’s mother deeply encouraged him to study music. Lulu started piano when he was 5 years old. He started going to the Mu-sic Conservatory of Paris at the age of 8. There, he studied piano and solfege for many years, and had Annick Chartreux as a teacher during his studies in high school, where he played with the orchestra and choir for 4 years. Aged 15, Lulu recorded a duet with his mother Bambou of a song called “Ne Dis Rien” (written, composed and sung by his father Serge Gainsbourg), and worked with his father’s musicians: Tony “Thunder” Smith in Drums (who is a drum teacher at Berklee), John Kum-nick on Bass, Stan Harrisson on Sax. Lulu performed piano and voice parts of the song. Aged 16, Lulu made his first steps as an actor in the movie " La Bande Du Drugstore" (“Aka Dandy” in English), released in February 2002. Graduated with a “Certificat de Fin d’Etudes Musi-cales” (Certificate of Musical Studies) in solfege at 18, he heard about Berklee College of Music and decided to leave Paris a few years later to go to London, in order to improve his English and his musical talents.

Born in Lebanon, Rania Matar is an award winning photographer whose

new book, Ordinary Lives (The Quantuck Lane Press, November 2009), cap-

tures the dichotomy of contemporary life in Lebanon. Her work focuses on

the lives of the women and children who exist side by side with the uncer-

tainties of war and violence.

Rania Matar's insightful photographs reveal moments of order and domes-

ticity amidst upheaval to capture the stability found within instability. The

particular resilience of children is apparent in her work, which often shows

how wonder can permeate the world of a child, regardless of circum-

stances. - Jill Medvedow, ICA, Boston

Lucien Gainsbourg, alias

LULU GAINSBOURG,

was born on January 5, 1986. Son of Serge Gains-bourg, a major French art-ist, and Bambou (model and singer), brother of Charlotte Gainsbourg (famous actress and singer), Lulu became fa-

mous very quickly. He was only 270 day old when his father composed a song called “Lulu”, sung by his mother. In 1988, Serge Gainsbourg per-formed his last live tour “The Zenith” and his son Lulu, who was 2, came on stage for a song his father had written for him, called “Hey men, Amen,” and at this occasion was introduced to the French public. On March 2, 1991, Lulu’s father passed away. Since his father’s death, Lulu has often appeared in magazines, interviews as well as on TV shows.

ROSEMONT MARKET & BAKERY - Rosemont is your everyday, premier

source in southern Maine for the freshest local produce and other foods, as

well as our own artisanal breads and pastries, soups, sandwiches and prepared

foods; fine wine and beer; local meats; gourmet products and more. We also

have a full deli with terrific meats and cheeses from near and far. We only sell

the best stuff, from our baguettes, to olive oil, to figs, to rice, to Parmaggiano

Reggiano, to sausages, to wild mushrooms, to squash. We have established,

and continue to develop, a vast network of local growers, farmers, and produc-

ers whom we rely on for the majority of what we sell.

We've

also made online shopping easier by editing our merchandise assortments with

you in mind. Our goal is simple – to make Lord & Taylor your favorite store.
