Subject: Groundwater Monitoring - Summary R I 2019
Dear Ms Lenihan,
See summary report for Rf 2019. Assessment of groundwater analytical data was completed by comparing the data with the following published guidelines:
European Union Environmental Objectives (Groundwater) (Amendment) Regulations 2016, Statutory Instrument No. 366, 2016. Groundwater Threshold Values (GTV) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Interim Guideline Values (IGV) Dutch Intervention Values (DIV)
The R I summary is for eight monitoring wells agreed with the Agency.
RI: sampling of target wells MW3, MW8, MWII, MW18, MW25d, and non- target wells, MW5, MW23 and MW26d.
Samples were analysed for VOCs and redoxlbiodegradation indicators. A full review of the results was undertaken and any unusual trends have been noted.
Results for chemicals of potential concern, COPC’s, have been compared to the IGV’s & DIV’s with trends noted from previous analysis. In addition, a comparison of Groundwater Threshold Value, GTV’s, has been undertaken, where applicable.
While individual results represent a snapshot of conditions at a given time, temporal trends give an overall indication of groundwater condition. Therefore, once off elevated or reduced levels of contaminants will need to be reviewed with this in mind.
If you have any queries or require any further clarification on the enclosed, then do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours Sincerely
EHS Manager. Pat Griffin:

aenova L Groundwater Results RI 2019
Eight Monitoring wells were sampled for R I 2019, target wells MW3, MW8, MW'lI, MW18, MW25d, and non-target wells, MW5, MW23 and MW26d.
Volatile organic compounds (VOC's) were analysed by Alcontrol Geochem, Hawarden, UK.
Results for chemicals of potential concern, COPC's, are summarised in Tables 1 to 5. The tables also contain IGV's & DIV's and GTV's for comparison. Results for 201 5 to 201 8 are also shown. Table 6 contains results of parameters indicating reducing groundwater conditions and Table 7 contains information on the locations of the monitoring wells and also gives the depth to the water level for each monitoring well sampled.
The IGV for Trichloroethene is exceeded in three of the monitoring wells, MW3, MW8 & MW7 I The GTV is also exceeded in these monitoring wells and additionally MW23. There was a slight increase for MW3, while there is a slight decrease for MW5, MW8, MWII, MWI8 and MW25D.The remaining monitoring wells are very stable.
Monitoring wells, MW5, MWI 'l, MW18 and MW23 are at the method detection limit of 1 ug/l for Cis-1,2-DichIoroethene* MW3, MW8, MW25D and MW26 show levels between 2- 15ug/l.
All the monitoring wells are at the method detection limit of I ugll for Vinyl Chloride.
The IGV for Chloroform is exceeded in MW3, MW8 and MWI I. The GTV is also exceeded in MW8 at 184ug/l.
The IGV for monochlorobenzene, (I ug/l), is exceeded in MWI 8 (5ugA) but the overall trend is very stable with the other monitoring wells at the method detection limit.
Groundwafer Compliance Monitoring
In line with the EPA's risk-based approach to setting of compliance values for historical contamination at licensed sites, AECOM proposed to use a combination of generic GTVs and IGVs and site-specific WS derived as part of the QRA completed for the Temmler site in 2006 and 2007. In the absence of a G W , the corresponding vvn/ is used for setting compliance values for the site.
In light of the recent changes to the GTV, the following concentrations are proposed as compliance values for all of the compliance monitoring points:
MCB compliance value of 1 pgIL (GTV of I 0 pg/L, IGV and VVrV of 1 p g l l )
TCE compliance value of 7.5 VglL (GTV of 7.5 pgIL, IGV and WTV of 10 pg/L)
TCM compliance value of 12 pg/L (no GTV defined, IGV and vvI"v of 12 ygIL)
cDCE compliance value of 0.375 yg/L (GTV of 0.375 pglL, IGV and wnl of 30 vg/L)
VC compliance of 0.375 pg& (GTV 0.375 pg/L, no IGV defined and WTV of 10 pg&)

Trend graphs for all COPCs in groundwater from the five compliance points are presented in Attachments 3 -7, (Figures 13 - 77). Compliance point monitoring graphs will be updated by AECOM annually.
ConcIusion
The trend for the COC’s in the target wells is generally stabte. A number of the target wells show moderate decreases for COPC while others have a moderate increased. The presence of low levels of Cis-I ,2- Dichloroethene and Vinyl Chloride in several of the monitoring wells shows that active degradation of Trichloroethene is still occurring.
