The Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland serves as aregional cooperative planning and development agency for
Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties for the resolution ofregion-wide issues and for the attainment of regional goals in

The transportation team is responsible for regional transitservice coordination; regional transportation plan
development and implementation; promoting carpool,vanpool and commuter express bus service; developing and
implementing strategies and tools aimed at encouragingcooperative land use and resource planning between NAX
PAX River and its surrounding cities and counties, state andfederal agencies, and other affected stakeholders; and
providing technical support for programs such as RegionalTransportation Coordination Program (RTCP); 5310 grants
program; Senior Ride Program (SRP); and other transit relatedprograms.
Program Highlights:The Tri-County Council of Southern Maryland has been awarded a Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Fund (RMPIF) Grant by the RMC to explore Innovative Solutions to Increase Healthcare Related Transportation. The project will consist of contracting with the CTAA and the NCMM to facilitate a regional workgroup using Design Thinking to lead community stakeholders through creatively thinking outside the box to develop mobility solutions that meet the needs of the users, use existing resources and can be financially sustained. The Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland has established a Bicycle & Pedestrian Infrastructure Advisory Committee for the purpose of promoting, planning, and increasing bike trail connectivity throughout the Southern Maryland Region. The Committee shall concentrate on creating trails that increase bicycling tourism both in the local community and attract riders from outside the region to increase economic activity. The Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland’s Regional Transit Coordinator was the recipient of TAM’s 2016Friend of Transit Award. The Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland’s Transportation Specialist has been appointed to the ACT Public Policy Committee as a voting member by the International Association for Commuter Transportation and will advise the ACT Telework Council Committee on policy changes in the US.
