System Maintenance Check List Prepared By : Manish Bhatt Version : 26 th April, 2015 Check for RAM Usage Check system page file is according to RAM or whether page file exist or not Check CPU Usage Check system log for warning and error messages for hardware and network failures Check application log for warning and error messages for service startup errors, application or database errors and unauthorized application installs Check all drives for adequate free space Visually check the equipment for amber lights, alarms Check date of Anti-Virus signature files, it should be current date Check overall system performance and work around and If you found anything problematic check it thoroughly If system behaving strange then Run “sfc /scannow” Check whether system is Synchronizing system clock with master server or not, if not then change CMOS Battery or check necessary services responsible for it Check system’s all services for any unnecessary services running and stop the same if not required Check how many admin users are there ? remove if more than 1 local admin users found as well check the local admin password Check and Do Disk Defragmenter if required Remove ‘Temp’ and ‘%temp%’ folder files for free up space if required Check files like ‘.torrent’, ‘keygen’, ‘crack’, ‘iso’ files and remove most of them (Be careful for ‘iso’ files as it may be useful too). Do “Windows Update” if required Check IP, DHCP, DNS and Alternate DNS settings are correct
