Whether you are doing colon, skin, stomach, nasal, emotional, or any other kind of detox, Ayurveda reminds us that it is important to maintain 3 distinct stages: Purv karma or preparation Pradhan karma or main action of detox Paschat karma or post detox pacification and rejuvenation. In the SVA tradition, these 3 steps are maintained even when conducting a basic simple detox, like virechana or general purging. However, in order for the detox procedure to be complete and successful, some additional essential points also need to be addressed. Such as: 1. Identify your toxins; how many kinds; how many are you targeting through one detox protocol one or more? It may sound odd to you that there are different kinds of toxins. Even though Ayurveda discusses this, it is usually glossed over, and practitioners usually only mention and address the most basic one, known as “ama.” But Vaidya’s SVA lineage clarifies the different categories, and gives specific recommendations for dealing with teach type. Vaidya reminds us that there are primarily 4 types of toxins: ama – or toxins

Do-s and Don’t-s of SVA Detox! Whether  you  are  doing  colon,  skin,  stomach,  nasal,  emotional,  or  any  other  kind  of  detox,  Ayurveda  reminds  us  that  it  is  important  to  maintain  3  distinct  stages:

• Purv  karma  or  preparation

•  Pradhan  karma  or  main  action  of  detox

• Paschat  karma  or  post-‐detox  pacification  and  rejuvenation.

Such  as:

1. Identify  your  toxins;  how  many  kinds;  how  many  are  you  targeting  through  one  detox  protocol  -  one  or  more?  It  may  sound  odd  to  you  that  there  are  different  kinds  of  toxins.  Even  though  Ayurveda  discusses  this,  it  is  usually  glossed  over,  and  practitioners  usually  only  mention  and  address  the  most  basic  one,  known  as  “ama.”  But  Vaidya’s  SVA  lineage  clarifies  the  different

categories,  and  gives  specific  recommendations  for  dealing  with  teach  type.  Vaidya  reminds  us  that  there  are  primarily  4  types  of  toxins:    • ama  –  or  toxins

made  from  semi-‐  or  un-‐digested  food  that  results  when  you  eat  too  much,  or  too  heavy,  or  too  soon  before  your  previous  meal  is  fully  digested;

• amavisha  –  which  is  ama  that  is  left  to  sit  in  your  body  and  becomes  chemically  active  and  more

acidic  overtime  –  think  of  it  in  terms  of  the  trash  that  you  get  too  lazy  to  throw  out!  The  more  it  gets  to  sit  there  the  stinkier  it  becomes!  That’s  amavisha  for  you:  semi-‐digested  decomposed  substances  that  emit

toxic  acidic  fumes,  lowering  your  body’s  pH  and  increasing  inflammation  overall.  But  in  addition  to  this,  emotional  stress  also  creates  amavisha  in  your  body.  When  you  are  emotionally  upset  or  stressed  out,  your  body  produces  different  kinds  of  chemicals  to  help  you  cope  with  the  situation,  and,  in  the  end,  the  liver  is  stuck  with  having  to  process  these.  The  liver  itself  can  get  aggravated  and  imbalance  results.

• garavisha  –  these  are  external  toxins  that  enter  our  body  through  environmental  chemical

pollution,  such  as  toxic  fumes  from  paint,  or  abrasive  detergents,  or

personal  care  products  that  contain  preservatives,  synthetic  scents,  and  additives.  This  type  of  toxic  build-‐up  is  very  slow  but  steady.  It  takes  sometimes  years  to  surface  but  causes  deep  tissue  damage.  Throw  out  that  anti-‐perspirant  deodorant  that  contains  aluminum,  or  that  synthetically  scented  after-‐shave!  Switch  to  natural  chemical  free  laundry  detergents,  and  parabens  free  personal  care  hair  and  skin  care…

• Indra-vajra-abhijania  –  Ayurveda  identified  electromagnetic  pollution  and  radiation  as  being  harmful  to  the  human  physiology  thousands  of  years  before  the  invention  of  our  contemporary  digitalized  and  computerized  culture.  As  the  term  indicates,  this  kind  of  toxin  has  to  do  with  “Indra”  or  the  god  of  the  skies  who  ruled  the  “vajra”  or  the  electrically  charged  thunderbolt.  This  last  category  of  toxins  is  of  an  even  more  subtle  but  pervasive

electromagnetic  and  energetic  nature.  Too  much  computer  or  cell-‐phone  usage,  living  next  to  electrical  towers,  sleeping  with  your  head  next  to  an  electrical  plug,  or  digital  smart  clock,  etc.  All  these  can  burn  your  “soma”  and  deplete  your  “ojas”  and  develop  deep  imbalances  over  time,  even  if  you  have  and  maintain  the  perfect  diet  and  routine.

So  now  you  have  it,  you  know  who  the  enemies  in  the  line  are,  now  you  have  to  learn  how  to  deal  with  them!  For  this  you  have  to  step  with  caution  because  some  risks  may  be  involved.

2. Confront  your  toxins  –  but  carefully!  After  it  is  determined  which  type  of  toxins  are  bothering  your  physiology,  then  you  can  address  which  ones  and  how  many  you  will  target  in  a  specified  time  period.  If  you  are  found  to  suffer  from  all  four,  you  will  obviously  have  to  go  step  by  step  so  as  to  avoid  a  total  detox  crisis,  running  the  risk  of  your  body  shutting  down  on  you!  But  there  is  a  very  important  point  here:  some  or  all  of  your  toxins  may  be  resulting  from  one  specific  set  of  toxins  or  situation,  and  this  brings  us  to  the  second  point  to  consider.

3. Where  is  the  “adhisthan”  of  your  toxins?  In  other  terms,  what  is  or  has  become  their  by-default  favorite  hang-out  location?    Toxins  like  to  set  up  permanent  residence  and  grow!  They  will  wander  around  till  they  find  the  perfect  location  to  make  their  stronghold.  Weak  over-‐used  areas  are  their  favorite  spots.  An  overworked  organ,  an  inflamed  tissue  or  over-‐worked  joints.  It  is

important  to  know  where  the  adhisthan  or  original  location  of  toxic  build-‐up  is.  For  example,  you  may  experience  pain  in  your  forearms,  but  the  origin  of  that  pain  may  be  in  your  shoulder  where  you  may  have  a  nucleus  of  inflamed  nerves  due  to  stress,  and  the  pain  may  be  extending  down  to  your  elbows  and  wrists,  but  if  you  try  to  address  it  on  that  level,  it  won’t  help  much,  until  you  address  it  in  its  adhisthan,  in  your  shoulder.  Your  shoulder  will  attract  fresh  ama,  everytime  you  eat  the  wrong  things,  or  it  will  also  be  a  vulnerable  point  for  garavisha,  any  toxic  exposure  will  weaken  it  further.  Taking  care  of  your  shoulder  will  make  sure  no  further  toxins  are  added  on,  but  rather  duly  eliminated.

4. Which  brings  us  to  the  next  question:  what  kind  of  toxins  will  you  be  addressing  primarily?  Those  that  are  lipid-soluble  or  those  that  are  water-soluble?  This  is  a  very  important  question  because  its  answer  will  determine  the  type  of  protocol  you  will  have  to  adopt  to  eliminate  them  efficiently  and  without  side-‐effects.  Lipid-‐soluble  toxins  reside  in  your  fat  tissue,  and  many  herbal

formulations  do  not  address  lipid-‐soluble  toxins,  while  specific  herbs  and  spices,  such  as  the  common  household  fenugreek  seeds  or  leaves  (methi)  address  and  detox  your  fat  tissue.

Distinguishing  between  these  two  types  of  toxins  will  bring  about  concrete  results.  Ama  resides  more  in  the  “rasa”  or  clear  part  of  plasma,  and  in  the  blood,  while  amavisha  may  go  deeper  into  the  fat  and  bone  tissue.

5. You  will  then  need  to  further  focus  and  determine  which  organs  and  which  organ  systems,  and  also  which  physical  or  vibrational  channels  are  involved.  Which  dhatu-‐s  or  tissues?  Which  mala-‐s  are  the  toxins  accumulated  in?  As  you  know,  the  tissues  are  built  like  a  pyramid,  each  one  gets  transformed  and  refined  to  yield  the  other,  until  the  very  finest  last  dhatu  or  tissue,  which  is  “shukra”  or  the  reproductive  fluid.  So  after  the  transformation  of  every  dhatu,  or  tissue,  a  specific  “mala”  or  bi-‐product  of  the  transformation  is  produced.  This  is  a  little  like  the  wood  dust  you  get  when  you  are  doing  woodwork,  it  is  what  remains,  what  is  left  over,  it  is  a  “mala”  and  mala-‐s  are  the  best  hosts  for  toxins.  For  example,  after  you  ingest  food,  and  after  it  is  digested,  the  unused  part  becomes  fecal  matter,  called  “purish”  in  Ayurveda.  Purish  is  a  mala,  it  is  the  bi-‐product  of  a  transformation.  In  itself,  it  is  not  toxic  if  it  is  evacuated  out  of  the  body  on  time.  But  if  it  is  made  to  stay  in  the  colon  longer  than  it  should,  if  you  are  constipated  for  example,  or  you  are  too  busy  to  go  when  you  get  the  urge,  then  it  gets  reabsorbed  into  the  blood  and  causes  toxicity.    Urine  is  also  a  mala,  so  is  sweat.  That  is  why  Ayurveda  says  not  to  restrain  your  natural  urges,  if  you  feel  like  you  need  to  urinate,  do  not  hold  it  back.  It  also  recommended  you  wear  natural  breathable  fibers  that  will  allow  the  sweat  to  come  out  rather  than  remain  on  the  skin,  which  will  allow  the  toxins  to  get  reabsorbed.

6. Clear  your  channels  or  detox  pathways:  after  identifying  the  type  of  toxin(s)  that  you  need  to  address,  and  determining  the  “adhisthan”  or  site  location  (are  they  accumulated  in  your  liver?  Kidney?  Lungs?  Etc),  you  have  to  consider  your  physical  and  vibrational  channels.  Why?  Because  they  are  the  pathways  through  which  you  will  be  evacuating  and  eliminating  the  toxic  build-‐up.  If  you  need  the  transport  the  trash  from  one  part  of  the  city  to  the  designated  landfill  and  the  highways  are  blocked,  or  the  bridges  are  broken  due  to  poor  maintenance,  you  may  have  to  take  the  side  roads  which  may  cause  unduly  delay,  not  to  mention  that  some  may  not  have  been  built  for  large  trucks  to  go  through…  If  the  detox  pathways  for  specific  organs  and  systems  in  your  body  can  be  either:  a)  blocked  due  to  the  accumulation  of  toxins-‐  this  is  known  as  “Shroto  Rodh”;  or  b)  shrunk  -‐  this  is  known’s  as  “Shroto  Abhi  Shanga”;  or  c)  dried-out  and  ruptured  -‐  this  is  known  as  “Shroto  Bhranmsha.”  The  condition  of  your  shrota-‐s  needs  to  be  determined  and  addressed  before  you  plan  on  using  them  for  eliminating  toxins  through  them.  The  blockages  will  have  to  be  removed,  if  the  channels  are  shrunk  they  will  have  to  be  rejuvenated;  if  the  channels  are  ruptured  then  detox  is  contra-‐indicated,  it  may  not  even  be  an  option  at  all.  Shouldn’t  you  assess  the  health  of  your  channels  before  deciding  to  detox?

This  is  why  understanding  the  toxins,  locating  their  “adhisthan,”  evaluating  the  health  and  weakness  of  the  organs  and  systems,  assessing  the  state  of  the  channels,

symptoms.  www.vaidyamishra.com  1.888.974-‐2584

these  are  all  key  factors  that  will  help  determine  whether  or  not  one  can  proceed  with  even  home  detox  or  seek  professional  SVA  expert  help  for  risk-free  detox.

After  meeting  with  too  many  victims  of  unwise  detox  protocols,  Vaidya  Mishra  developed  the  safe  and  effective  transdermal  cellular  detox  protocols  and  specific  SVA  products.  The  objective  for  SVA  experts  is  to  use  the  safest  and  most  effective  detox  methods  that  will  put  least  amount  of  pressure  on  the  organs  and  organ  systems,  and  even  less  pressure  on  the  circulatory  channels.  SVA  detox  is,  in  this  sense,  almost  risk  free  detox;  however,  no  detox  is  complete  without  proper  food  and  drink,  as  well  as  adequate  rest,  even  in  transdermal  detox  protocols.  SVA  Transdermal  detox  also  follows  the  3  stages  of  Purv  Karma,  Pradhan  Karma  and  Paschat  Karma.

But  before  you  embark  on  your  spring  detox  journey,  remember  that  the  best  detox  principle  and  most  efficient  protocol  is  to  stop  inputting  toxins,  regardless  what  type  they  are.  Choose  a  toxin  free  life  through  diet,  daily  routine,  the  environment  your  live  and  work  in,  and  the  people  you  hang  out  with.  More  often  than  not,  we  do  have  choices.  It  is  just  about  implementing  them,  even  if  with  baby  steps.  In  this  sense,  here  are  some  practical  things  you  can  do  not  only  to  prep  your  body  but  to  stop  inputting  more  toxins:

• Maintain  an  alkaline  non-‐channel  clogging  SVA  diet  (no  refined  food  items,  no  acidic  additives,  no  large  beans,  etc)

• Go  to  bed  on  time  –  9:30pm  sleep  to  wake  up  by  5:30am  is  optimal  for  all  body  types.  Kapha  types  may  feel  they  need  less  sleep  so  they  can  wake  up  earlier,  instead  of  sleeping  later…

• Get  into  the  habit  of  doing  full-‐body  self-‐oil  massages  if  not  daily  at  least  2-‐3  times  a  week  with  Vata  pacifying  oil  blends

• Incorporate  kulthi  dahl  into  your  diet,  at  least  once  a  week,  ideally  on  Saturdays

• Consume  cilantro  and  mint  chutney  2-‐3  times  a  week  • Incorporate  Moringa  leaf  (tea,  soup  mix,  drops)  into  your  dietary  regimen

• Adopt  transdermal  detox  creams  to  gently  but  effectively  start  unclogging  channels  and  releasing  toxins  in  preparation  for  full  detox

• Switch  to  natural  personal  care  products  with  pure  ingredients

• Use  only  chemical  free  cleaning  agents  • If  you  must  be  in  front  of  the  computer  for  long-‐er  hours,  then  shield  your  body  by  wearing  raw  unrefined  silk  –  either  a  shawl  or  a  shirt.  Then  make  sure  to  do  an  SVA  Vibrational  Cleanse  every  evening  at  least  –  you  can  request  these  steps  if  you  do  not  have  them.      Write  to  us  with  any  questions  or  comments:  livingtradition@prana-‐center.com
