Unthinkable Egg Hunt

Task:

Students work together in groups to find plastic Easter

eggs hidden in the classroom.

Procedure:

Work quietly together to figure out the Unthinkable

Character for each situation card found inside the eggs. If

the situation calls for help, the team can talk about different

strategies to solve the problem. Teams place the situation

card in the correct basket with the matching Unthinkable

character.


Advanced Preparation:

•Print out one copy of each situation card and

place one card inside each plastic Easter egg.

•Print out one picture of each Unthinkable

character and place it on a small basket. Each

team can have their own set of baskets. The

Unthinkable characters are part of the Superflex

Curriculum. For more information, please go to

•Hide the eggs in the classroom.


Instructions:

• Check baskets for accuracy. Give points for

each accurate answer.

• Discuss strategies to defeat the Unthinkables

for the different situations.

• At the end of the hunt, prizes could be awarded

the winners and/or the group(s) who

participated the best.

Your friend needed help opening

his milk carton. When you help

open the carton, the milk splashes

all over you. You just laughed and

said, “Well, I sure was thirsty!”

POW! You defeated:


You are working on a group

project to build a totem pole. You

do not like the animals your group

chose so you decide to work by

yourself.

Uh Oh!

Looks like you need help to defeat:


You strike out in baseball and you

throw the bat down hard and pout

the rest of the game.

Uh Oh!



At recess, your best friend

Caymus decides to play basketball

with another group of kids. You

don’t feel like playing basketball

today so you decide to go play on

the swings instead.

POW! You defeated:


You are in the middle of a great

book, but you put it away when

mom says it’s time to go to

Scouts.

POW! You defeated:


You can’t remember how to do a

math problem and you get mad

and throw your paper and pencil

on the floor instead of asking for

help.

Uh Oh!



At recess, some of the kids are

playing a game you have never

played before. You ask them how

to play the game.

POW! You defeated:


You think your teacher is very

funny and you laugh REALLY loud

in the classroom. The teacher

gives you an angry look.

Uh Oh!



You see baby ducks walking

outside your classroom window

while your teacher is teaching

math. You stay in your seat and

listen to the teacher.

POW! You defeated:


Josh brought a pet rabbit in for

Show and Tell. You want to know

more about the rabbit and you ask,

“Can you take your rabbit on

walks?”

POW! You defeated:


Your teacher is talking to the class

and a girl next to you is playing

with her erasers. You turn your

body away from her and think

about what your teacher is saying.

POW! You defeated:


You have a difficult spelling test

and you are worried that you will

not do well. You put your head

down and cry when the test

begins.

Uh Oh!



You are thinking about your new

video game instead of doing your

math worksheet.

Uh Oh!



Your mom asks you to stop

playing your new video game and

do your homework. You ignore her

and keep playing your video

game.

Uh Oh!



You have so much energy that you

are having a hard time completing

your morning work. You ask the

teacher if you can use the ball

chair for a little while.

POW! You defeated:


You keep wiggling in your chair

and the person sitting next to you

is getting very annoyed.

Uh Oh!



When the teacher is reading a

story, you lie down and put your

legs and feet too close to your

friend Sally.

Uh Oh!



You accidentally bump into

someone in the hallway and you

quickly say, “Excuse me.”

POW! You defeated:


You are in class and you really

want to play with the rubber

chicken sitting on the table. You

tell yourself to stop and focus on

that the group is doing.

You can’t wait for recess, but it’s

not time yet to go outside. It’s

really hard for you to sit still during

reading group. You ask the

teacher if you can get a drink of

water.

You laugh when someone messes

up a really easy answer to a

problem in math class.

Your friend just got a new haircut

and it is too short. You smile and

tell her that her new haircut looks

great!

You are working on a poster with a

group and you keep telling

everyone what to do and hog all

the markers.

Uh Oh!



Your team doesn’t get to go first,

but you take some deep breaths

and tell yourself that your turn will

be next.

POW! You defeated:


You tell everyone at the lunch

table a new joke and everyone

laughs. You want to tell the punch

line again, but instead you ask if

anyone else has any new jokes.

POW! You defeated:


Your friend Mary sits with

someone else at lunch. You start

crying and refuse to sit with

anyone else.

Uh Oh!



Your friend just got a new puppy.

He is telling you about the tricks

he is teaching his puppy. You ask

him what is for lunch today.

Uh Oh!



Your group is working on building

a robot in class. You are looking

out the window.

Uh Oh!



Your mom is going to have

surgery soon. You are having a

hard time sleeping at night

because you are so worried about

her.

Uh Oh!



You did not sleep well last night

and the cafeteria is really noisy.

When someone asks you for help

opening up their chips, you yell,

“No!”

Uh Oh!



Your friend is telling you about the

movie she saw last night. You say,

“I’m going to the zoo this weekend.

I can’t wait to see the polar bears.”

Uh Oh!



You are telling your friend about

the baseball game you went to on

Saturday. You remember your

friend isn’t a big baseball fan. You

ask him, “What did you do this

weekend?”

POW! You defeated:


You don’t get picked to be one of

the singers for the school play.

You are disappointed, but you tell

yourself it’s just a small problem

and you will still have fun being the

crocodile in the play.

POW! You defeated:


Your friends are all being silly and

giggling while the teacher is

reading the class a story. You

ignore them and listen to the

teacher.
