Republic of China President, Xi Jinping In Area to Meet With President Trump The President of the Republic of China will be staying at the Eau Palm Beach Thursday and Fri- day while in the area for a meeting with President Donald Trump. Eau Palm Beach is a short drive down A!A from Mar-A-Lago, Trump's home on Palm Beach. The two will meet at Mar-A- Lago. Traffic in the area is expected to be heavy with occasional road closings. The Secret Service will occupy approximately 85 percent of the parking at Lantana Beach according to Lantana Police Chief Sean Scheller. Approximately 40 buses will bring protesters into the area while President Xi Jingping is in the area. Jinping is scheduled to arrive Thursday, although Scheller could not divulge an approximate time. On Wednesday, fencing had been placed along A1A in front of Eau Palm Beach and along Ocean Avenue in front of Plaza Del Mar and up to The Carlisle. A few Chinese protest- ers were out along the fence lining the intersec- tion of Ocean Avenue and A1A Wednesday with banners. Chief Scheller said he expects beach parking and traffic to be back to normal before Saturday when more residents will be coming to the beach. Mayor David Stewart said Wednesday the Secret Service was not stopping beach goers from us- ing Lantana Beach. The parking lot was full of Secret Service vehicles and trucks with fencing and barricades. News media vehicles were parked at Plaza Del Mar, setting up their an- tennas in preparation for Xi Jinping's arrival. Council also approved a site plan amendment for approval to construct a 3,847 square foot fast food restaurant with a drive- thru and a 7,373 square foot tire store at the northwest and northeast corners of the Target site. In addition to the 5-12 year old camp, there will also be a Teen Camp for campers between the ages of 13-15. Both camps will go on field trips that are suited for the age groups they are enrolled in. Registration for Village of Palm Springs residents is now ongoing. Non-Resident registration will begin Monday, May 1. Both camps will start on Monday, June 5. The cost of the camp is $125 per week with a one- time registration fee of $25 which includes five camp T- shirts. Also included in the camp fees is breakfast and lunch (provided through Palm Beach County), field trips, and all supplies used at camp. There will be a $10 discount for all weeks paid in full by May 20.
