TENNIS LESSONS: (Ages 5-14) - 10 spots available per class per session Session 1: July 18- 21 Session 2: August 15–18 Members: $75per session Non-Members: $85 per session

Class Times: 5-7yrs: 9:00am – 10:30am

8-10yrs: 10:30am – 12pm

11-14yrs: 12:00pm – 1:30pm

Participants will establish and build on the foundational skills of tennis. Our certified instructor caters to participant’s individual skill levels to maximize the learning experience. Participants asked to bring their own tennis racquets. TENNIS CLINIC: (Ages 16+) – 8 spots available per session! Session 1: July 19 Session 2: August 16 Members: 45+ GST/Session Non-Members: $55+ GST/Session Class Time: 6:00pm-9:00pm This is a chance to improve and advance techniques and

tactics through reviewing various technical elements of

tennis. Participants are asked to bring their own tennis racquets.

PICKLEBALL LESSONS: 16 spots available per session!

Session 1: Wed June 22 Session 2: July 6 Session 3: August 10 Members: $35.00+GST/Session Non-Members: $45.00+GST/Session Class Times: 7:00-8:30pm

Participants will learn the rules of Pickleball, and how to play the game. The instructor will also teach participants forehand and backhand serving. The Instructor can adjust lessons based on skill level or group.

WATER POLO LESSONS (Age 8-12) – 16 spots available per session! Session 1: Mon July 25-28 Session 2: Mon Aug 22-25 Members: $70.00 per session Non-Members: 80.00 per session Class Times: 10:00-12:00pm Participants will be introduced to the sport of Water Polo. Water Polo is a great option for improving swimming skills. Participants will learn technical skills, practice drills, and play games. Please note: If your child participates in both sessions, they will receive a $25.00 discount off the second session. SWIMMING LESSONS: (Ages 3+) – 10 spots available per class per session! Session 1: July 11,12,13,14,15,18, 19 Session 2: Aug 8,9,10,11,12,15,16

Members: $50 per session Non-Members: $60 per session *Please note MLRA has extended its swimming program this year. Each session includes 7 days of lessons.

Preschool 1: 12:00pm – 12:35pm

Preschoolers will learn how to safely get in and out of the water, jump in chest deep water, float and

glide on their front and back, and blow bubbles underwater.

Preschool 2: 12:40pm – 1:15pm

Preschoolers will learn to jump into chest-deep water by themselves. While wearing a lifejacket they will

learn to safely get in and out of the water, submerge and exhale underwater, and glide on their front

and back.

Preschool 3: 1:20pm – 1:55pm

While wearing a lifejacket, preschoolers will learn jumping and sideways entry into deep water. They

will recover objects from the bottom in waist-deep water, and work on kicking and gliding through the

water on their front and back.

Preschool 4: 2:00pm – 2:35pm

Advanced preschoolers will learn to solo jump into deeper water and get out by themselves. They will

do sideways entries, open their eyes underwater, and master a short swim while wearing a lifejacket

and gliding and kicking on their side.

Preschool 5: 2:40pm – 3:15pm

While wearing a lifejacket, preschoolers will learn a

forward roll entry and tread water for 10 seconds. They

will work on front and back crawl, interval training and

whip kick.

Swimmer 1: 1:00pm – 1:50pm

Beginners will become comfortable jumping into water

with and without a lifejacket. They will learn to open their

eyes, exhale, and hold their breath underwater. They will

also work on floats, glides, and kicking through the water

on their front and back.

Swimmer 2: 2:00pm – 2:50pm

Advanced beginners will jump into deeper water and learn to be comfortable falling sideways into the

water while wearing a lifejacket. Participants will support themselves at the surface without aid, learn

whip kick, swim 10m on their front and back, and be introduced to flutter kick.

Swimmer 3: 3:00pm – 3:50pm

Junior swimmers will dive and do in–water front somersaults and handstands. They’ll work on front

crawl, back crawl, whip kick and flutter kick interval training.

KAYAKING DAY (Ages 8-13) – 18 spots available per session!

Session 1: Tuesday July 5th Session 2: Thursday August 4th Members: $100 per session Non-Members: $110 per session Class Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm Participants will have a fun day of learning the basic principles of Kayaking and other water based activities. Instructors ensure the kids are always engaged through games, fun drills and interaction with one another.

STAND UP PADDLING (Ages 13+) – 12 spots available per session! Session 1: Mon July 25 Session 2: Mon August 22 Members: $55 per session Non-Members: $65.00 per session Class Times: 13-17yrs: 2:30pm – 4:30pm 18+yrs: 6:00pm – 8:00pm Participants will be introduced to the basics of Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP). Instructors will cover balance, basic strokes, turning, getting back on the board, info on boards and gear, basic safety principles and more. SUP YOGA (Ages 16+) – 8 spots available per session!

Stand Up Paddle Boarding, or SUP, is a low impact sport that strengthens the core, tones every muscle, and gets you on the water enjoying nature. Yoga improves your flexibility and balance, while restoring all bodily systems by creating physical, mental, and spiritual harmony. The health benefits and simplicity of both stand up paddle boarding and yoga make them the perfect match! Course includes board rental, or you may bring your own. YOGA AT THE LAKE (Ages 16+) – 14 spots available per session! You will deepen your awareness of your beautiful surroundings while strengthening your body and increasing your flexibility. This class runs Rain or Shine (Lakehouse available as needed). All levels welcome, please bring your yoga mat and a yoga block.

Mindfulness meditation can help decrease stress, manifest positive energy, and increase overall wellbeing both mentally and physically. Learn techniques to bring mindfulness into your day-to-day life. All levels welcome, including those who have never practiced meditation. Please bring a yoga mat and a firm cushion to sit on. Chairs will be available as needed. ‘NSTEP Camp (Ages 4-7) –20 Spots available per session!

Session 1: July 25-28 Session 2: Aug 22-25 Members: $60.00 per session Non-Members: $70.00 per session Class Times: 1:00pm -4:00pm

NSTEP camp is offering a variety of experiences for your little ones, encouraging them to get outdoors and be active. We are thrilled for this fun-filled week of outdoor activities, snacks and crafts. Every day the kids will be doing something different. Sign up for the NSTEP camp, space is limited! Highlights: How to grow-a-garden, prepare and make your own healthy snack, nature scavenger hunt, Mini-Olympics and so much more.

Summer Program Terms and Conditions

LIABILITY WAIVER

I give my child permission to participate fully in the MLRA program. I understand that even when every

reasonable precaution is taken, accidents can sometimes still happen. Therefore I understand and

expressly acknowledge that I release MLRA, sports coaches, volunteers, instructors and vendors from all

liability to us and our child, as well as our personal representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of kin, for

any and all claims, suits or causes of action arising from or out of any personal injury or illness (known or

unknown), property loss or damage, that my child may suffer from participation in the program.

MEDICAL

In case of emergency, I grant permission for me and/or my child to receive emergency medical

treatment. If for any reason my child or I requires medical attention beyond that furnished by the

program, I agree to be responsible for any expenses incurred.

PROTECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

You and/or your child’s health and personal information is collected to ensure the safety and well-being

of each person involved in program. This information will only be seen by MLRA and program vendors,

and will be kept in a secure place.

MEDIA RELEASE

I further agree that MLRA has permission to use any photographs or video material related to activities

for future promotional purposes. I understand that circulation of promotional materials could be

worldwide and that there will be no compensation to me or my child(ren) for this use.

CANCELLATION POLICY

MLRA reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient registration. Full refunds will be issued or you may transfer to another program. In the event of a cancellation, MLRA will notify you as soon as possible.

MLRA reserves the right to cancel outdoor related programs due to inclement weather (please review the weather disclaimer below). In cases where a program has multiple classes on different days, only days of inclement weather will be cancelled, not the entire program.

All refunds will be pro-rated depending on the number of classes completed. Refunds will not be issued for participants who are unable to attend the make-up days.

Full Refunds will be issued for medical reasons if MLRA is notified prior to program start date and provided with a doctor’s note. If MLRA is notified and provided with a doctor’s note during a program, a pro-rated refund will be issued for the number of classes uncompleted.

Due to any other reason, if MLRA is notified more than 7 days prior to program start date, a full refund will be issued minus a $20 Cancellation fee. If MLRA is notified less than 7 days prior to program start date, no refund will be issued.

Refunds will be issued in the same payment method as received. If a payment was made in cash then you will be refunded by way of company cheque. Refunds by way of cheque may take a few weeks to process.

MCKENZIE LAKE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION OUTDOOR WEATHER DISCLAIMER

McKenzie Lake is an outdoor environment not subject to heating and is influenced entirely by the

external weather environment. The benefit of our outdoor programs is to help a child become

comfortable and acclimatized to the cooler lake environment. Weather will not be perfect and there will

be cooler days with moderate winds and cloud. By signing this waiver you acknowledge that there may

be days of cool weather and refunds will not be issued to participants who feel it is too cold to

participate. MLRA staff will determine inclement weather based on a number of factors – high winds,

cold air temperature, rain, lightning, etc. In the event that MLRA cancels a session due to inclement

weather, all participants are expected to attend the scheduled “make up” days. Please Review the

cancellation policy regarding refunds.

Family Fun Day

Friday July 8th Join us for our annual Family fun day on the afternoon

of Stampede Parade day. We will once again have a

barbeque, cold drinks and ice cream for sale. There

will be an assortment of free activities and no

shortage of fun! This year we are proud to announce

that we will have the Giant Extreme Rush inflatable

slide (picture to right).

The event will run from 12PM – 4PM. Bring your

loonies for tickets and the whole family!

Reading in the Park

Saturday July 23rd & August 20th

The Calgary Public Library will be bringing their book truck to

McKenzie Lake. Members and their guests will have the

opportunity to register for a free Library card, browse and

borrow from a collection of 1,500 books and movies, return

Library items and sit and read outside at the pop-up reading

lounge.

The event will run from 1PM–3PM

Sandcastle Building Competition

Sunday July 24th

McKenzie Lake will be having its annual Sandcastle building competition!

Teams and families are invited to come out and exercise their sand

creativity. Please register your team and design before the event!

Fishing Derby

Sunday August 14th

Bring your fishing rod and come down to the lake for the August

Fishing Derby! Longest fish will win a great prize! You can fish from

shore or by boat. RSVP online at www.mlra.ca, or email Laura

The event will run from 9AM–1PM

Movie at the Lake!

Thursday August 18th bring your blankets and enjoy an outdoor

movie at the lake! The movie will start at sunset 9:00pm. Make

sure you arrive early to get a great spot on the hill and some snacks

for the show. Popcorn and drinks will be sold on site.

Watermelon Eating Contest

Sunday August 14th

Come down to the lake for a battle of the stomachs!

Contestants from a number of age groups will compete to see

who the speediest watermelon eater is!
