GBE Question #14 Please share any information you think would be helpful to improving the Sultan School DistrictOpen-Ended Response

I would like better communication for after school activities for the high school because my child doesn't always hear the announcments or she forgets to tell me. An email or webpage scheduale update would be great for parents.

To put more funding into technology to help support students with IEPs. Following through with commitments made during parent/school IEP meetings. Providing a better bus schedule notification system when schools are two-hours late in starting. Talk about importance of encouragement between students and not name calling, especially using bad language (Middle School). Discussion of respecting other students.Inprove Special Ed Class In Sultan

The lack of physical education in our school is hard to justistify doing activities at home when they are not to doing them in school. I also would like to see more in some of the largerr classrooms in the lower grades.

Improve the GBE PTA. Make Board Members work with the other parents better. Just because they made it as board members does not make them better than the rest of us!! I would be more involved if not for these specific board members. I love this school, but not the PTA!!!

If a child is failing they should not be passed to the next grade. If they are not understanding things that shpould stay in same grade level till they show that do.

Gold Bar elementary is awesome. The school district could use some help.NANo.

Better communication with parents

i enjoy the sultan school district and the opportunities that my children have.

Answer to #15 SES

Please share any information you think would be helpful to improving the Sultan School DistrictOpen-Ended Response

SMALLER CLASS SIZES!!!!! A special education staff that cared about the students and meet the IEP minutes and not text on their cell phone.

I wish there was not a teachers union to dictate all happening at the school. I feel the Prinicipals need more responsiblity for what happens at there school but they have no authority becuase the teachers union is in control.I have nothing to add. Doing a good job.

The school nurse has not shown good working skills with parent volunteers and childeren in need when I have been present. I have talked with the VP about her when an incident occured. I think the teachers try really hard to help get higher skills to those who need the higher than grade approperiate material and I thank them.

Too many days off from school. SES principal is disengaged from the teachers. Classrooms sizes are too large and the kids are suffering. More time needs to be spent on supporting and developing teachers - this will only start when a new principal with strong leadership/academic abilities is hired. The teachers and the students deserve better. Students will benefit by improving the quality of life for teachers at work and home.

not sure; maybe understanding that not all children learn in the same manner effectively, and not all will be as smart in everything as we had hoped. they are still only human and it is their differences that make life what it is and will be. thank you

I would prefer less packets. Less busy work and more hands on learning.

too much old school stuff going on - especially in primary grades. kids need a community at that age. less worksheets and more project based.

Why did the teachers take parking spaces infront of the building during confrences?

The SES classrooms are too large. There are too many recess breaks and way too many days off of school. There needs to be more meaniful teacher appreciation events/announcements.

Have better info on the website concerning events, such as conferences.

i wish someone creative could come up with more ways to reach more parents and get them involved

Continue to keep parents informed and community involvement.

More resources are needed for special need students.

doing good job

better communication for when my student is not doing so well. Keep power school up to date at all times

Less homework

communications between parents and school district is lacking.

keep the visiting football teams on the opposite side of the football field. It is expected of us when we go to others schools....should be expected of our visitors!!!!!!keep the good teachers that care about students education. bag the ones that do not.

Early release days make it easier for kids to get off track, make transportation and child monitoring more difficult. Rather than every Friday early, what about alternating week 3 day weekends? Having a daily homework ritual established as early academically as kindergarten, it would make the habit more ingrained, and they are easier to convince to do so when they are that young. Establish habits early!

Better communication between schools.

we need more money for better equipment in the classrooms, especially for hands on lab learning; like science.

the teachers and staff need to be held more responsible...ie powerschool updating in a timely manner, communicating with parents if the student is not turning in homework or is failing class, help the student to get grade up, turn in, finish work encourage student to want to do better

I would like the district to either email or update web page on school activities because my child doesn't always hear the anouncments in class.

Change the light bulbs in the parking lot at the high school. This is safety concern that needs to be addressedbetter text books

Help for kids who have learning disabilities and who are extremely behind in comprehension in specific subjects. Teachers need to communitcate more with parents. Staff needs to have a more vested interest in a students performance. More options need to be available for kids who are struggeling.

maintain excellance in learning and support academic and creative arts, ie. foreign languages, music,

as a parent of a child with disabilities, i believe the school district could place a better emphasis on post school transitioning. there is currently no transition program available.
