The Spanish city of Cordoba is the third largest city in Andalu-

sia, with just over 300,000 inhabitants. The city is immersed in

history, and boasts a wealth of cultural and monumental heri-

tage bequeathed by the different civilizations that have settled

there. A wander through its streets is a tour of history in the

footsteps of the Romans, Arabs, Jews and Christians which over

the centuries formed this melting pot of cultures which Cor-

doba today offer visitors. Nowadays the city is admired for its

architectural monuments, mainly the Great Mosque-Cathedral,

considered to be the most important Islamic monument built in

the West. Thanks to its cultural and monumental legacy, it was

designated a World Heritage City by the UNESCO in 1994.

Cordoba is at present a combination of tradition and mo-

dernity, a city with a varied artistic legacy and a rich cultural and

social life. In addition to the emblematic legacy, the city offers nu-

merous spaces and activities for entertainment and recreation.

Shops, markets and shopping centres, craft workshops in the Jew-

ish quarter, Flamenco shows, Arab tea rooms, Hamman or Arab

baths according to the old Moorish style, tapas in the taverns or

drinks in pubs and bars are some common way to enjoy the city.
