AboutStaraNovaljaOn a mild slope on the north-western side of the island of Pag , in a several

kilometers long but tame cove, whose coast is washed by the sea waves, is

the location of Stara Novalja. Protected from southern and northern winds

( jugo and bura ), exposed to the sun, the cove of Stara Novalja, framed

with Mediterranean herbs, at the same time gives protection during the

warmest summer days.

This most peaceful nest of the longest island of Croatian

littoral, with rest and accommodation in private

apartments and rooms, offers fun, sports, dancing etc.

Lies 5 km north of the better-known town of Novalja. Smaller and more

peaceful, Stara Novalja is surrounded by fertile fields and is known for

agriculture and wine growing. Tourists can find accommodation in private

It is completely invisible from the land, the cove hides all the advantages

offered by the climate and the Adriatic Sea. It is especially suitable for

heat.You can arrive in Stara Novalja in two ways. Travelling from Zadar

across the Pag Bridge or by ferry Prizna - igljan.

The crossing takes about 15 minutes.

Stara Novalja is a village in the cove of the same name in the north-easternpart of the island of Pag, 5 kilometers north of Novalja in Croatia.

Economy is based on farming, wine culture, fishing and tourism. The cove

of Stara Novalja is the submerged part of the "Pasko-Dinjiska" valley. The

safest dock for larger ships is located south of the cove called "Drljanda",

where the depth reaches 27-38 meters. Smaller ships and yachts drawingup to 3.5 meters are docked along the external part of the jointed pier (in

front of the village). Stara Novalja is located on the road "M29". In its

vicinity are remains of antique walls, a late antique necropolis, ruins of the

pre-Romanesque church of the Holy Cross. Since the ferry harbor was

relocated to "Zigljen" (except in some extraordinary weather conditions),

Stara Novalja has become a quiet place which offers accommodation

facilities in private homes, as well as lodging and boarding services. As

such it is preferred by families. The major event is the feast day of Saints

Peter and Paul (29th of June).In spring 1999 in the hinterland of Novalja an interesting phenomenon has

been discovered, that is a triangle-formed trace on a rocky ground, called

Pag triangle. The place of Pag Triangle is situated approx. 1,5 km south-

east of Novalja - igljen ferry port road (the cross road for Pag Triangle ismarked).This natural phenomenon attracts a great number of curious

persons and tourists, journalists and experts, who try to explain from their

point of view.During July and August (mainly from 20th July to 30th

August) weekly tours to Pag Triangle under the expert guide of Mr. Stjepan

Zvonari

, who wrote some books about this phenomenon, are organized. Insame period an exposition about Pag Triangle can be visited. The Pag

Triangles should becomes the center of the future UFO Park and in such a

way this place should receive ad additional significance.

BeachesThe biggest beach in Stara Novalja is sand beach "Trincel". There are

many small beaches in front of the every house.

ClimateMild and Mediterranean. Springs are lush and green, summers are dry and

warm, falls pleasant and winters mild with the cold northeast Bora (wind)

sometimes blowing. Daily summer temperatures can reach 30 degrees and

nights are pleasantly fresher. Summer sea temperatures reach 25 degrees,

while the bathing season starts in May.
