Ree_trofit – The main purpose

To contribute to solve one of the major bottlenecks for increasing energy performance of existing building stocks:

shortage of local qualified and accredited retrofitting expert

by setting up a large-scale educational scheme and by fostering exchange of knowledge and best practices among participants

Page 6: Stara zagora, final side event

Ree_trofit - Objectives

1. To define best practices for implementation and institutionalisation of training

2. To prepare and plan a European vocational training program

3. To improve training courses effectiveness and productiveness with an eco-building repository and other on-line tools

4. To carry out 3 cycles of vocational training in the 6 participating countries

5. To develop a validation strategy for assessing and further fostering the impact of the project

6. To define and implement a communication and dissemination strategy to assure the maximum visibility

Italy vocational training results

-3 training batches have been carried out: the first edition in 2011, the second in the spring of 2012 and the last one in the autumn of 2012

-The vocational training courses have had a great success

-Some figures:

Electrical installers 53 participants

Thermo hydraulic installers

Building enterprises

56 participants

60 participants

Italy vocational training results

The analysis of the questionnaires of satisfaction, made at the end of the first batch, has been very useful in order to improve the other editions.

Main innovations have been the following:

-improvement of the practical part by reducing the number of academic teachers and increasing the number of professionals;

-reduction of the number of speakers in order to ease the teaching;

-introduction of a preliminary common module, with a session of 2 hours, for the three types of participants.

The experience gained during the three REE_TROFIT training batches,permitted to improve the training.

A specific enhanced training batch, a follow- up of REE_TROFIT called“Laboratory for Sustainable Building” is now going on.

Page 9: Stara zagora, final side event

Laboratory for Sustainable Building

•aims at promoting innovation and at disseminating new building expertise and skills in construction industry of the Lucca area;

•consists in multi-level specializing courses based on monothematic workshops that allows the establishment of personalized classes on specific topics for both retraining and qualification. Courses were projected to be fully personalized on students request.

Page 10: Stara zagora, final side event

The projectLaboratory for Sustainable Building is a 3 years project aimed to builders and construction

workers that has the purpose to generate a platform for non-stop training of qualified workers.

is organized in 5 monothematic modules (12 hours each) on specific topic about different aspects of Green building and Sustainability, with great care of re-qualification and restoration of the present building assets.

Module structureEach module consists in 3 main encounters:

1) Theoretical lesson (workshops)

Traditional frontal lesson Real building projects explanation Critical examination and analysis of 1:1 scale product samples,

components and systems at the center of education and divulgation “ABITARE MEDITERRANEO”, LUCENSE (project founded by “Regione Toscana”)

2) Hands-on training Meeting with building companies and firms producing construction

materials, building products and systems; Hands-on manual use of some samples in the designed facility at the

laboratory of the Builder School in Lucca with the participation of companies representative for each field;

3) Project work Development of a technical intervention, likely basing on real situations,

working in teams composed by participant harboring different expertise.

The Lucca Technological park was created with the goal of:

• Favouring the installation and strengthening of distinctive enterprises

and competencies in the field of innovation and technological transfer.

• Promoting the design and the implementation of innovative R&D proposals.

• Realizing collaborative platform among Universities, research system and enterprises.

The objectives

Page 15: Stara zagora, final side event

Lucca Chamber of Commercebest practice

The location

Industrial area former Bertolli, in Lucca.

To reduce at minimum the environmental impact it was favoured the replacement of pre existing buildings with new ones characterized by high energy efficiency, without the occupation of additional surfaces.

The new park is conceived as a green port, starting and arrival point of the cycle track and the pedestrian routes, open to everyone: the south park of Lucca, which favours relationships between enterprises and citizens.

The premises – an eco-sustainable forefront facility

Two buildings, realized by the Lucca Chamber of Commerce with the financial support of the Tuscany Region and the Lucca Cassa di Risparmio Foundation.

Building 1

2.600 sqm, 5 incubation modules for innovative enterprises; already located: LUCENSE – research body with its Paper quality centre, e-centre and its laboratories for innovation and technological transfer (www.lucense.it) and 55100 – development of high-end bespoke furniture, fittings, interiors, fixture and equipment using cardboard made from recycled and sustainable paper sources (www.55100.it).

Building 2 (inaugurated on the 18th of July 2013)3650 sqm, space to host 23 innovative enterprises in the growth and development phase, 14 enterprises in incubation. Already located: 12 enterprises of which 3 in acceleration (http://www.polotecnologicolucchese.it/content.php?p=13). 4 new enterprises, in incubation, will settle within the end of March.

The buildings have the following features:

1. Eco-sustainabilityVentilated walls, use of renewable energies and of materials with low environmental impact, reuse of rainwater.

2. Bio-compatibility

Priorities of the project: healthiness and comfort in order to assure the best living conditions to those who will occupy the buildings

A positive energy balance: Lucca Technological Park generates more energy than used.

Building 2Building 2 has been build by taking into consideration the following strategies of intervention:

•Choice of the orientation and structure of the building;

•Integration of system of casing highly efficient;

•Roof garden;

•Application of active integrated system for the exploitation of solar energy(photovoltaic and thermal);

•Use of geothermal and of heat pumps coupled with a system of trigeneration to optimise inner spaces;

•Natural ventilation and the improvement of air quality;

•Natural lighting of inners spaces, through a proper sizing and orientation of the openings;

•Mobile systems of shielding for transparent, vertical, horizontal surfaces;

•Radiant floor and ceiling;

•Use of "naturals" materials(cements, plasters, stone and wood coatings, vegetable insulating);

•Use of hydraulic systems for the recovering of rain waters and optimisation of consumptions of water.
