Baptism: First Saturday of the month at 1:00 PM. Parents

must come to the Rectory with the with child’s original birth

certificate at least one or two months in advance. Instruction is

held on the Monday before the Baptism at 7:00 PM. For more

information please contact the Rectory.

THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

The appearance of Jesus to the two disciples

going to Emmaus, happened the same day that he

rose from the dead. They had lost hope: they were

sad. We may be sad too. Maybe we have celebrat-

ed Easter; yet joy may have disappeared from our

hearts. However, the two disciples did not give up

the idea that only the Christ can give them happi-

ness. They continue to speculate about the Messi-

ah. Those who seek Christ, shall find him: he will

manifest Himself to those that inquire after him.

Christ's disciples are often sad and sorrowful, even

when they have reasons to rejoice like we should!

Christ has died for our sins, so that we may be set

free from the fear of death. However, through the

weakness of their faith, the two disciples cannot

comfort one another. Though Christ is entered into

his state of exaltation, He notices the sorrows of

his disciples. In order to heal their sadness, our

Lord reproved them for the weakness of their faith

in the Scriptures. If we knew Scriptures, we would

not be subjected to the perplexities we often entan-

gle ourselves in. He shows them that the sufferings

of Christ were really the appointed way to his glo-

ry. Christ is the best expositor of Scriptures; and

even after his resurrection, he led people to know

the mystery concerning himself, not by advancing

new notions, but by showing how the Scriptures

was fulfilled, and turning them to see one's life in

the Sacred Texts. Let us give thanks to the Lord for

the gift of the Eucharist! The regenerating grace

which opens the "eyes" of faith!

TERCER DOMINGO DE PASCUA

La historia de los discípulos de Emaús nos colo-

ca ante un fenómeno que también podemos experi-

mentar cada uno de nosotros y la misma comunidad

cristiana como tal. Es el fenómeno de la CRISIS o

fases graves y delicadas que puede atravesar nuestra

vida cristiana y la vida de la Iglesia. Los dos discí-

pulos de Emaús habían seguido con sinceridad a

Jesucristo, se habían hecho amigos de él y puesto en

él sus esperanzas: "Nosotros esperábamos que él

fuera el futuro liberador de Israel". Ahora se en-

cuentran con que Jesús ha muerto y, naturalmente,

consideran esta muerte como el fracaso y la desapa-

rición de la acción de Jesús en el mundo. Desorien-

tados, decepcionados y entristecidos caminan discu-

tiendo y comentando entre sí la crisis que pa-

san...Me parece que no nos va a resultar difícil a to-

dos nosotros, de una u otra forma, sentirnos repre-

sentados en los discípulos de Emaús. Es normal que

también tengamos, como ellos, unas ideas y unas

formas determinadas de vivir y de entender la fe en

Jesucristo, y nuestra adhesión a la Iglesia. Es nues-

tra forma de ser, como la de los de Emaús y la de

todos los apóstoles. La forma de ser humana, indeci-

sa, contradictoria, pecadora. Por eso nos resultan

conveniente, e incluso necesarias, las crisis como

etapas para decidirnos de nuevo y convertirnos más.

Tenemos que saber hacer como los de Emaús: PO-

NERNOS EN COMUNIÓN VERDADERA CON

JESUCRISTO que camina entre nosotros, con el

Cristo que es nuestro pan y nuestra palabra, LA

FUERZA Y LA VERDAD PARA NUESTRAS

CRISIS. Es lo que ahora estamos celebrando, como

lo hicieron los discípulos de Emaús: "Tomó el pan,

pronunció la bendición, lo partió y se lo dio... Ellos

comentaron: ¿no ardía nuestro corazón mientras nos

hablaba por el camino y nos explicaba las Escritu-

ras? Debemos superar, pues, nuestras crisis con una

fe más purificada, con una fe que esté DE VUELTA

de nuestros propios prejuicios y sectarismos, como

los de Emaús que "levantándose al momento SE

VOLVIERON a Jerusalén".

Campaña de Generaciones de Fe

Gracias a todos los feligreses que hicieron sus promesas a la Campaña Generaciones de Fe. Como ustedes
