Opening Hymn / Himno
In The Midst of New Dimensions
In the midst of new dimensions,In the face of changing ways,
Who will lead the pilgrim peopleWandering in their separate ways?
God of rainbow, fiery pillar, Leading where the eagles soar,
We Your people, ours the journeyNow and ever, now and ever, now and evermore.
Through the flood of starving people,Warring factions and despair,
Who will lift the olive branches?Who will light the flame of care?
(Chorus)
As we stand a world divided By our own self-seeking schemes,Grant that we, your global village,
Might envision wider dreams.
(Chorus)
Should the threats of dire predictionsCause us to withdraw in pain,
May your blazing phoenix spiritResurrect the church again.

We Gather
From many places we gather here. This is a high point of our
week. We see our friends. We make
new friends. And we spend time with The Friend -- the loving
Christ who meets us where we are, as we
are. In this Sanctuary we worship, and
through worship the courage within us
is kindled to inspire courageous living beyond this place.

For Everyone Born
For everyone born, a place at the table,To live without fear, and simply to be,
To work, to speak out, to witness and worship,For everyone born, the right to be free.
And God will delightWhen we are creators of justice and joy,
Compassion and peaceYes, God will delight
When we are creators of justice,Justice and joy!

Ruth 4:13-22
So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When they came together, God made her conceive, and she bore a child. Then the women said to Naomi, ‘Blessed be God, who has not left you this day without next-of-kin; and may this child's name be renowned in Israel and be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age; for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has borne him.’ Then Naomi took the child and laid him in her bosom, and became his nurse. The women of the neighborhood gave him a name, saying, ‘A son has been born to Naomi.’ They named him Obed; he became the father of Jesse, the father of David.

CommunionAs we gather, break
bread, and tell stories of hope through prayer,
song and ritual in the practice we call
"communion," we bear witness that "Life is stronger than death.
People can change with God’s help. And God is
worthy of our thanks and praise." All are welcome at the table: you do not need to be a member
of this or any church to gather as God's children
at the table of Life.
A brief blessing is offered with bread and
unfermented juice, available to all. Gluten-free bread is offered at the far right; Spanish blessing offered at the
far left.
Please honor this time of sacred community with
singing, quiet meditation or prayer that we might
each receive the spiritual nourishment we seek ...
jugo, al alcance de todos. Pan sin gluten se ofrece en el extremo derecho;
bendición españoles ofrecen en el extremo
izquierdo.
Por favor respetar este tiempo de comunidad
sagrada con canto, la meditación o la
oración silenciosa para que podamos recibir cada uno el alimento
espiritual que buscamos.

About Us…Resurrection MCC is a Christian church that follows God's call to justice for all people. We build on a rich history of social justice for, and on behalf of, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. Since its founding in 1968, Metropolitan Community Churches have been at the vanguard of civil and human rights movements as an international advocate for vulnerable people in places where religious orthodoxy, sexism, transphobia and homophobia can result in violence and death. MCC has been on the forefront in the struggle towards marriage equality in the US and other countries worldwide and continues to be a powerful voice in the LGBTQ equality movement. MCC’s ministry reaches over 43,000 members in over 250 churches in 22 countries worldwide.Metropolitan Community Churches are on a bold mission to transform hearts, lives, and history. We are a movement that faithfully proclaims God's inclusive love for all people and proudly bears witness to the holy integration of spirituality and sexuality. Because of our faith we are called to: do justice, show kindness, and live humbly with God (Micah 6:8); explore life's questions with open hearts and minds; raise our voices in sacred defiance against exclusion, whether religious, political or systemic; reach out to those with no hope; equip new generations of remarkable, far-reaching spiritual activists.
Our MISSION is to demonstrate God’s unconditional love to all people through Christ-like action. Our VISION is to boldly experience, engage, and embody our faith to transform ourselves and the world into the full expression of Christ’s inclusive love.
At Resurrection MCC, every member and friend is a minister of the church. We envision a Christian community that values diversity and is as diverse and all-encompassing as creation. Through salvation, service, study, and tithing, each member and friend will live and grow in faith and be spiritually fed. We embrace four core values:
Core ValuesInclusionLove is our greatest moral value. Inclusion is a primary focus of our ministry. We believe that all people, as they are and where they are, should be welcomed at God’s table. CommunityOur deep desire is to offer a safe and open community for people to worship, learn, share, and grow in their faith. We are committed to equipping ourselves and each other to do the work that God has called us to do in the world. Spiritual TransformationA message of liberation guides our ministry. We believe that when people are invited to experience God through the life and ministry of Christ, lives are transformed. JusticeWe are committed to uplifting all people and standing with those who suffer under the weight of oppressive systems. We are guided by our commitment to global human rights.

DAY OF DECISION(and possible Legal Marriage Ceremony!)
5:00 pm on the Day of DecisionLikely Between
Monday, June 22 - Monday, June 29Resurrection MCC Sanctuary
It is an historic time in the life of our nation and Metropolitan Community Churches. Resurrection MCC is honored to be a "Decision Day" gathering location in Houston for the day a decision comes down from the Supreme Court or the Fifth Circuit Court on the issue of marriage equality. We hope you will join us on campus that day at 5:00 pm as we celebrate decades of MCC advocacy that has brought us to this moment. In fact, Rev. Troy Perry performed the first same-sex marriage in the U.S. in December, 1968, just two months after founding the denomination. It is possible that the Harris County Clerk's Office will begin issuing marriage licenses on that day and waive the typical 72-hour waiting period. If that is the case, we will be hosting a mass same-sex marriage ceremony THAT DAY at 5:00 pm. If you are interested in getting married if it becomes legal (or are considering it), it is important that you email [email protected] with your names and cell phone numbers so that we may notify you of the critical and timely details as soon as we know of a decision. It will be very important that you have these details in order to participate.Couples are not required to be a member of Resurrection MCC or any church in order to participate. Please share this invitation widely with everyone you know who may be interested in coming to the celebration getting legally married, or attending the reception! Many thanks to all those who have worked tirelessly over 47 years in the MCC movement that have brought us to this day, and thanks be to God!Read about the history of marriage equality in the MCC movement at www.ResurrectionMCC.org/marriage

Centering Prayer is a receptive method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer.

Are you ready to change a young life?
Did you know over 100 children (infants to teen) come to Resurrection MCC every month to hear the message that God loves them and their families? Can you make a difference in their life? Can you offer two hours a month to plan and teach a specially designed curriculum? Can you share God's word with them in a fun, meaningful, and safe environment?
If you answered "Yes!" you'll receive laughter, fulfillment, and satisfaction knowing you are making a difference. Teaching experience is helpful but not required. Individuals are most needed to teach 5-6 year olds and 7-9 year olds, but all volunteers are appreciated. Are you prepared to be blessed in an amazing way? Please email Joel Palomares, Youth Ministries Program Coordinator, at [email protected] if you are ready to make a difference.
