God calling… A Vocation Prayer: Gracious God, we praise

you for generously sowing your seed, nourishing protecting,

and strengthening us on our faith journey. By our Baptism you commission

us to sow your Word. Now we pray that your Church be enriched with

people who embrace the call to holiness and service. Let us also

encourage others in discerning and living their vocations, thereby

fostering a culture of vocation in which your seed will bear much fruit.

We ask this in the name of Jesus and in the power of eh Holy Spirit.

Amen.

their garments here for more than 30 days will be disposed of. In a

IN FORMATION

We thank Deacon John for his service to our parish for many years and assure him of our prayers. Deacon John will be preaching at all of the Masses on the weekend of February 24 and 25, his last weekend with us. There will be a reception for Deacon John after the 10 am Mass on Sunday, February 25. Please join us in wishing him well.

ZÉÉwuçx And Thank You

SAND What did you think when you got sand at Church

today? Were there times when you felt like life

was a desert filled with sand? Where did you turn?

How can Jesus help you with your struggles just

as He dealt with His?

This is the first weekend of Lent. Many of you attended Mass last Wednesday to receive ashes and begin publically your crossing from sinfulness to a life of grace. Just as we did last year, every Friday evening we will have a simple, non-meat dinner sponsored by one of the parish groups. It is a good opportunity for us to get to know each other better. These meals are free of charge, they will be sufficient to sustain us; after the meal, at 7:00

pm, we will pray together the Stations of the Cross, which will help to sustain our souls. Please join us.

Also this year the worship commission has come up with an idea that hopefully will assist you in living out Lent every day, not just on Sundays. Each Sunday (or Saturday evening) after Mass, you will receive a small token of something that will remind you of the Gospel for that weekend. We ask that you take it home and display it somewhere that you can see it throughout the week. If there are a number of you in your family, you may want to put them together. Each week, you will receive another item. Add it to the first one, and doing so week by week you will see the progression of the Gospels, and it’s always nice to get something to bring home from church, isn’t it? Throughout the week, you can get a glimpse, or even take a long look at what you received. There will also be a short reflection in the parish bulletin to help you. We will also have a display in the church and in the gathering space with the same items. All to assist in the journey that we make with Jesus towards Calvary, and then to Easter.

May you have a blessed Lent, filled with graces and blessings.

Fr. Ken
