BAPTISM: First and third Sundays at 1:00 pm. Parents may contact the Rectory to arrange for the baptism.
MATRIMONY: Since Catholic marriage requires a time of preparation, arrange-ments should begin at least six months before the proposed date of the wedding to allow for the Marriage Preparation Program. Contact the Rectory to begin the process.
PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK: If you are planning to enter the hospital for surgery, experiencing a prolonged or serious illness, or homebound due to advancement of age, call the Rectory to arrange for the sacraments of reconciliation, communion and anointing at home. When you go to a hospital be sure to tell the admitting office that you are a Catholic patient and a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo parish.
PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION CHAPEL: Open all day and night for Eucharistic adoration and located at the south end of the campus on Cinder Road next to the Rectory. Parishioners and friends are encouraged to become adorers or to stop in and spend some time in quiet prayer with the Lord. If interested in learning more please call or email: Bobby or Jessica Zottoli at 845-429-0320 or [email protected].
SPONSOR CERTIFICATES for Baptism and Confirmation are available to active parishioners, please call the rectory three weeks in advance.
MISSION STATEMENT: St. Gregory Barbarigo parish is a Christian community of disciples in the Roman Catholic faith, called by Jesus, united in Eucharistic worship, devoted to the Blessed Mother, and growing in faith, hope and love. Nourished through the sacraments and strengthened by God’s transforming love, we are empowered to know the gospel message and to witness it to others. As Christian stewards, we are thankful for God’s many gifts and we commit ourselves to share our time, talent and treasure in Christ-like service. We seek God’s blessing and guidance to be faithful to this mission.

BIBLE: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth
Join us at St. Gregory's to better under-stand God’s word in the Bible. The Bible
can be described as a collection of love letters from God giving us the information, we need to achieve eternal salvation. Saint Gregory’s scripture study group wants you to join them to participate in a new study titled Women in the Old Testament. We start this program on Thursday, September 10 in the after-noon at 3PM in the church narthex with a second re-peat session at 7PM in the same location. Each ses-sion is independent of the others, so even if you miss a week or two you can participate and learn a great deal. No prior experience in our study group is needed to participate which will last for eleven weeks. This gives us the opportunity to study the Word of God during Advent. All you need is a Bible and a pen; other materials will be provided. To learn more about this program please call Deacon John Kelly or Lucy Kelly at (845) 947-2095.

Last Saturday was a Day of Adoration in the Chapel from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and all went well, thank God. We will have another day of prayer in the coming weeks, the day will be announced at Mass and in the bulletin. Speaking of the chapel, kudos to Greg
McAvoy who built a beautiful altar rail for the chapel. Someone made the suggestion to me a few months ago, I thought what a great time to get it done. Not only does it look beautiful, but it also provides a location to kneel and pray. Additionally, it is easier to get up and down when there is an altar rail for support. I knew Greg was handy with wood work - but the workmanship on the altar rails is outstanding - so thank you Greg for volunteering your ability and donating the material. Thanks also to your son Ryan who has helped with the project.
Last Tuesday - September 8, was the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Mother and was also the first day of St. Gregory Bar-barigo Regional School. The principal Mrs. Spicer saw to numerous details in preparing the school in this “Brave New World” that we are enduring. From what I gathered, the students were very happy to be back at school, even with the many constrictions necessary to ensure health and safety. God willing, a vaccine will be found soon, and some of these measures can be relaxed.
The Parish Religious Ed program (CCD) has been scheduled to begin in October. We are planning to have in class instruction as well as a Zoom option for those families that prefer to keep their children at home. It is important that we make an effort to effectively catechize our students; it is a central responsibility of the parish to ensure the faith is passed onto our children. Speaking of the School and CCD, October 3 and 10 are our dates for First Holy Communion. Forty eight children will be receiving: 14 from the School and 34 from Religious Ed.
Last Friday was the sad anniversary of 9/11. There was a special Mass at St. Aedan’s on Thursday evening, September 10 as well as a Mass at the Shrine on Saturday, September 12. It is always good to pray for those who have died, especially the heroic Firefight-ers and Police Officers who died that day in the line of duty.
Finally, the 11:30 outdoor Mass is working out well, thank God. Last Sunday, we again had over 100 people. It is a beautiful setting, and due to the virus, some parishioners are hesitant to go to Mass indoors. We are fortunate to have such a beautiful campus, but of course, outdoor Mass is contingent upon the weather.
Yours in Christ,
Father Fallon
Religious Education and the Pandemic
Religious Education (CCD) will resume as scheduled at St. Gregory’s. We will
of course follow the standard protocol to help stop the spread of the virus. All students and catechists will be required to wear a face mask. When students arrive, they will come into the gym in the usual manner, but as soon as they enter they will have their temperature taken, then they will use one of the two hand sanitizers which will be near the entrance. If parents escort children into the building, parents also need to be wearing a face mask. As you probably realize, if a student is sick, he or she should not come to Religious Ed. Snacks and drinks should be consumed before coming into the building; only bottled water will be permitted in the classroom. Furthermore, water fountains will not be available. Fortunately, our class sizes are small enough to allow for social distancing in each classroom. Books will not be stored in the Reli-gious Ed office, but will be taken home and brought back each week. Each classrooms will be sanitized with the “fog” sanitizer device. These measures may seem burden-some, but maintaining the health of our students and catechists is of course essential.
Until further notice, the Sunday 11:30 Mass will not be live streamed. Mass is being celebrated outside and there is no wireless available.
Welcome to the Church
