Dearly beloved parishioners:

AD IESUM PER MARIAM… With great enthusiasm, I announce to all of you that we continue our walk with Mary to Christ as we will begin our monthly Fatima devotion on May 12th at 6:30 in the evening beginning with mass followed by the praying of the rosary and exposition and benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Our hope is that this monthly devotion will rekindle in us the message of the Blessed Mother in all her appearances at Fatima where she repeatedly emphasized the necessity of praying the Rosary daily, of wearing the Brown Scapular of Mount Carmel and of performing acts of reparation, sacrifice and conversion of sinners and world peace. From that time when the Lady appeared to the three little children until today, the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal sees thousands and millions of faithful pilgrims each year. Now more than ever, our world needs the rosary. Pray the rosary daily! As said, “The family that prays together stays together.” We invite you and your families to join us in this monthly devotion to our Lady of Fatima.

AD IESUM PER MARIAM... Traditionally, in the Catholic Church, the months of May and October are devoted to the Blessed Mother. I am also informing all of you great and joyful news that on May 12th, the same day that we will start our Fatima devotion, our parish also will have the privilege of having the statue of Immaculate Heart of Mary visit us. The statue was blessed by Pope Francis in this extraordinary jubilee year of mercy with the intention that the Blessed Virgin Mary who is the Mother of Mercy will proclaim to all parishes where she will go the message of God’s love and compassion . The statue will arrive in the morning and will be with us throughout the day. Each hour of the day, we will pray the mysteries of the Rosary. Students from our school will join us in this activity.

I hope and pray that many of you will take an active part in this devotion as often as possible. It is a beautiful way of giving joyful praises to the Blessed Virgin Mother for the graces that She has already bestowed on us, and of asking for Her intercession for our needs and intentions. This is also another form of evangelization, bringing our faith to one another and to remind ourselves that God’s mercy was made flesh through the “FIAT” or “YES” of the Blessed Virgin. Mary, Mother of Mercy and Our Lady of Fatima! Pray for us…

Father Eddie Castanas, Parochial Vicar

Here are some scattered thoughts from Father Tom . . . 1. Happy Mother’s Day. Today we honor our Mothers and pray for them, living and deceased. Thank you for being our mothers. In honor of you we begin the Novena of Masses starting May 7th through May 15th. 2. God Bless and congratulations to our 65 children who received the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ for the First time. May their love and reverence for the Eucharist increase each day of their lives. May each one pray for a personal relationship with Jesus. Thank you to all those who have helped them prepare for this occasion. 3. Are you so busy doing things, achieving and making progress that you forget what life is all about—preparing to meet God in Heaven! Today is the Seventh Sunday of Easter. We celebrate the Ascension of Jesus into Heaven who sits at the right hand of God the Father. The Ascension of Jesus reminds us that we are “only passing through” on this earth. We are pilgrims on a journey. Like Jesus, life on earth was temporary and He ascended into Heaven to be with God the Father. So are our lives here on earth temporary and our lives will come to an end. We will meet God the Father in the next life.. So our life here on earth is a time God has given us to prepare ourselves for the encounter with the Father. 4. Before Jesus ascended into Heaven he entrusted His mission to the Apostles saying, “Go therefore, make disciples of all nations” . . . (Matthew 28:9) Jesus also entrusted to us to be evangelizers, (baptize people, bring the good news) to make Him known to all people we come in contact with in our daily lives. 5. The month of May is the month of Mary. We need to honor our Blessed Mother Mary who said “Yes” to the will of God. May we learn from her to be faithful to God. Mary, your Mother, is ready to help us, to intercede for us so don’t hesitate to ask for her help. Make a devotion to the Mother of God—pray the Rosary every day. Pray for the sick in their hour of suffering. This is an opportunity to pray the Rosary as an individual, as a couple or as a family. Mary, the Holy Mother of God, Pray for Us!

Happy Mother’s Day Father Tom

A Rare Opportunity

In Fa ma, on July 13, 1917, the Blessed Mother said: “God wishes to establish throughout the world devo on to my Immaculate Heart. If people do as I ask many souls will be saved, and there will be peace.”

The Immaculate Heart of Mary Stat-ue is visi ng St. Felicitas Parish on Thursday, May 12th. This image of the Immaculate Heart as She ap-peared in 1929 to Sr. Lucia in Tuy, Spain, was blessed by Pope Francis a er his consecra on of the world to Our Lady of Fa ma.

The purpose of this Visita on is to spread the messages at Fa ma, increase and deepen devo on to the Immaculate Heart, help fulfill some of Her requests, and make people feel Her great love for them—and of Her Son’s as well. Let us pray for Her intercession for peace, for priestly and religious voca ons, conversion of sinners, and repara ons for sins.

We will have Masses at 7:00 a.m., 8:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The statue will be arriving in the morning and will be with us un l a er Benedic on that evening. Each hour of the day we will pray the mysteries of the Rosary.

Come and pray the Rosary to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

~ Sandi Walton ~ Director of Rel ig ious Educat ion

Since the children don’t know who you are, they can’t thank you personally; however, I hope that you see this note because I want you to know that your act of kindness touched someone! Thank you for praying for the First Communicants and ~ Thank You for sending cards to these children who just received the Eucharist for the first time! ~ You certainly made them feel special. It is always fun to hear their comments, as they don’t know the person that sent them a card and often times a small religious article gift. It gives the catechists an opportunity to remind them that they belong to another family ~ God’s Christian family, the Church. They are reminded that they became a member of the Christian family on the day they were baptized and by sharing the Eucharist in Holy Communion is strengthens our union with Christ and with the church community. With gratitude, Sandi

Jesus said, “I am the bread of life…Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.” John 6:35, 56

Jesus is present with us at Mass. The consecrated bread is the Body of Christ. The consecrated wine is the Blood of Christ. Through our sharing the one bread and the one cup, we are made one with Jesus and one with his Body, the Church (see 1 Corinthians 10:17).

Lễ Chúa Lên Trời. Lc 24, 46-53
