We are replacing 2 air conditioning units. One in the Gym and one in the church. As you well know, commercial air conditioning is costly. I am asking for your help in order to pay for these units. This is our church, and we want to make it comfortable for everyone. Every little bit helps our church. I pray that you can find it in your hearts to help our church accomplish this task. GOD’S PROVIDENCE Today’s readings celebrate God’s providence. No matter how wonderful (or heartbreaking) our relationships are, God always provides for us. No one cares for us the way God does. Isaiah delights us with a deeply intimate image of God caring for us “as a mother comforts her child.” The prophet describes us not as the usual “children of God,” but as “babies.” We should not resist this image, but rejoice in it. Trusting in God’s care, we can all let down our guard and rest like infants in the lap of our mother. Saint Paul’s trust in God allows him to be at peace like this. He boldly declares that no one can “make troubles” for him, because he has given himself complete-ly to Jesus. And when Jesus sends his disciples out to preach and heal, he challenges them not to provide for themselves, but to let faith be their guide. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

El Grupo de Oración de la Renovación Carismática Católica se reúne cada

miércoles a las 6:30 p.m. En la Capilla.

Empezamos con el Santo Rosario, seguido por

alabanzas de adoración, lectura de las escrituras y oración por todos los

necesitados y los enfermos. También, el último miércoles

de cada mes se celebra la Santa Misa en español.

LA PROVIDENCIA DE DIOS Las lecturas de hoy celebran la providencia de Dios. No importa lo maravilloso (o doloroso) que sean nuestras relaciones, Dios siempre nos provee. Nadie cuida tanto de nosotros como lo hace Dios. Isaías nos deleita con una imagen profundamente intima de Dios cuidándonos “como una madre cuida de su hijo”. El profeta nos describe no como los habituales “hijos de Dios” sino como “bebés”. No debemos resistir-nos a esta imagen, sino regocijarnos con ella. Confiando en el cuidado de Dios, nosotros podemos bajar la guardia y descansar como bebés en el regazo de nuestra madre. La confianza de san Pablo en Dios le permite estar en paz. Audazmente dice que nadie puede “ponerle obstáculos” por que se ha entregado completamente a Jesús. Y cuando Jesús envía a sus discípulos a predicar y sanar, él los desafía a no cargar nada para ellos, sino tener fe en su guía. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE El día 9 de junio del año 1597, falleció el jesuita José de Anchieta proveniente de las Islas Canarias, España. Este santo “apóstol de Brasil” fue beatificado en 1980 gracias a sus grandes esfuerzos humanitarios, literarios y evangelizadores en Brasil. Llegó a Brasil en 1553 donde aprendió Tupí, el idioma de los nativos. Enseñaba a los indígenas, evangelizándolos con la doctrina cristiana y educándolos en historia, filosofía y medicina. Eventual-mente fundó el Colegio Jesuita de São Paulo de Piratinin-ga donde tuvo la audacia de educar, junto a los hijos de los nativos, los hijos de los portugueses. Para este esfuer-zo escribió muchos libros y manuales, cosa que le mere-ció ser el primer escritor en Brasil. Además de ser un escritor prolífico, este misionero dedicó su vida a predicar el Evangelio en Brasil, país que cruzó a pie, fundando pueblos y escuelas para los indíge-nas cristianos. Estos le llamaban el “santo volador” por la velocidad con que caminaba. Su celo por el Evangelio lo motivaba a seguir caminando. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION It’s high summer now, school is out, the pace of work slows, and some people drift away. There are visitors in the churches every summer, and familiar faces are “among the missing.” Some find the summer’s call more appealing than the summons of the church bells. Many, however, would not dream of missing a Sunday, and so they make their way to Mass in unfamiliar places, watch-ing the locals for clues as to when to sit or stand, where the Communion stations are. In answering the call, they keep the “sabbatical” rhythm of the Christian life: every seventh day, the Body of Christ assembles for worship. For centuries, there was no obligation to Sunday Mass in the sense of a written law, but Christians have always yearned to be together on Sunday. In the city of Abitina, during a persecution by the Emperor Diocletian, a group of Christians were urged to stop worshiping together on Sundays. They responded, “Then take our lives, for without the Sunday we cannot live.” By a curious coincidence, the appointed readings today center us on thoughts of peace. On our Independence Day, the experience of worship situated us in community, and evoked a commitment from us to be advocates of peace in all aspects of our society’s life. —James Field, Copyright © J.
